Today, Grandpa Jim turns 82. That means in these pictures he was 78 years old. When I told Grandpa that I was opening my own audiology practice in Auburn I didn’t get a “good luck” or “wishing you well,” I got a “how can I help you?” And that he did. And most days, he was the first one to the office with his tool belt ready to build!

Most people don’t realize that my family and friends turned an empty cement space into Audiology Always. We get many compliments on the comfort of the office, and every time I smile internally knowing how it started.

At age 82, grandpa is still our go-to plumber, leak fixer, and whatever else pops up that needs our #1 maintenance man!

Grandpa Jim has been such an integral part of my life for 35 years. Might I add, he didn’t miss a single t-ball game this year for his great-granddaughters. He’s that kind of grandpa and I know I’m lucky. We’ll take all the years we can get, Grandpa!

At the end of the day, we’re a group of doctors, wives, women, and mothers who like to sleep really well at night.

I make this statement because we want you to know there is indeed a hearing practice in town that you can trust. If you want a second opinion, come see us. If you aren’t comfortable where you’re at, come see us. If you aren’t sure whether or not you truly need new hearing aids (or hearing aids in general), come see us. If you want to send an elderly parent somewhere and want to make sure they aren’t taken advantage of, come see us.

Today, I overheard one of Dr. Shelley’s patients tell Abby on her way out, “I’m so glad I found this office.” We are sure glad she found us too!

Full transparency, I don’t advertise a whole lot because it’s SO expensive. I try very hard to keep our prices reasonable which means cutting costs where I can. So, when people like the lady above “find” us- that usually means a local doctor, a friend, or our website told her about us. So, thank you to all of you for being our walking advertisements!

Someone: “I’m a dentist.” 🦷
The world: “Cool!” 👍🏻
Someone: “I’m an optometrist.” 👁️
The world: “Cool!” 👍🏻

An audiologist: “I’m an audiologist.” 👂🏻
The world: “You’re a what?” ⁉️

The encyclopedia: “An audiologist is a doctoral-level healthcare professional who specializes in the identification, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of hearing, balance, and related communication disorders. Audiologists provide comprehensive hearing and vestibular evaluations, recommend and manage hearing technologies, and deliver rehabilitative care to patients across the lifespan.”

So often audiology, and our ears, get overlooked as a vital contributor to our health and quality of life. We’ve all heard “Would you rather be blind or deaf?” And it’s a hard question to answer. The magnitude of that question alone tells us the importance of hearing healthcare. 

If you’ve had your teeth and eyes checked in the last year, it’s time to add a baseline hearing exam to your healthcare routine.

Hopefully by the end of my career (another 30 years), I will no longer have to give the world the encyclopedia definition of audiology!

Team Audiology Always was out of the office on Thursday and Friday to attend the Indiana Audiology Coalition Conference! Together, we learned from the industry speakers and manufacturers and collaborated with 61 other leading audiologists from around the state!

Dr. Lindsey currently serves as the coalition president! Her role as president ends on July 1st!

Then, it’s baby time!…

Out of office!

Team Audiology Always will be out of the office June 3rd-5th attending the Indiana Audiology Coalition Conference in Indianapolis! We take great pride in always being up to date on the latest technologies and methods of practice and attending conference such as these is how we do so!

And… Dr. Lindsey planned the conference so the whole crew is gently forced to attend! 🤣💛🦻🏻

Yesterday I was at the front desk when the phone rang with a new patient looking to schedule an appointment. I offered 2 appointment date options, one with Dr. Jessica and one with Dr. Shelley.

She asked me, “Who is best?” A very fair question that actually caught me a bit off guard. I told her “Well, I’m actually the owner and in my eyes I only hire the absolutely best so they’re both equally the best.”

We are now going on 2 years of having 3 doctors at Audiology Always. Of course we all have our strengths, individual ideas, and knowledge to contribute, however, I am very confident in saying that you will get consistent care no matter which provider you see in our office.
