🫆👮🏼‍♀️Today we had the honor of hearing Det. Jason White of The First 48, speak at the ISCA annual conference. Not only was Jason extremely engaging, he was also very approachable.

Dave, our Chief Transport Tech, is a super fan and was even able to visit with Jason for a bit.

This has been such a great few days.

A huge thank you to Chief Deputy Ge**er for staying back this year so we could attend, and for all that he does!

I could not ask for better teammates! 💚

❤️❣️💙THANK YOU!💙❣️❤️

The quote on my shirt is partially obscured by this big, beautiful Michael Kors purse; it says “Believe in Heroes.”

Pictured here with me is my friend Tracy, of Jeff’s Towing. Tracy is a huge animal advocate; she recently saved and bottle fed a tiny kitten and has helped countless more. Tracy has a big, kind heart. 🐱

Tracy donated this purse, to be auctioned at our annual conference, the proceeds of which will support our scholarship fund.

Today and everyday, Tracy is my hero. Thank you for your support, my friend!

💚💚THANK YOU!💚💚

Today I would like to shine a light on some folks who rarely receive the recognition they deserve, our local funeral directors. These folks are truly unsung heroes; heroes who likely now regret providing me with their personal cell phone numbers. ☎️

Why? Because I often begin conversations like this: “I need help but I’ll completely understand if you say no.” These conversations frequently occur late at night or in the wee hrs of the morning.

What do I convey in these calls?:

-You might not get paid.
-You’re probably going to get yelled at (a lot).
-You’re going to have to use your best secret squirrel sleuthing capabilities to track down family, but I’ll help you because I have secret squirrel sleuthing capabilities, too.
-I’ll bring you a Big Gulp Diet Dew and/or cookies if you help me.

And they always help. For no reason, other than they’re just really good humans.

We love our local funeral directors and funeral home staff.

We are so blessed to work with the best of the best.

Thank you!

🌷🌸🩷THANK YOU! 🩷🌸🌷

One of the things I like to say about our team is that “We show up for our community.” It’s just as true, though, that our community shows up for us.

Our annual conference is set for later this month. During this time a silent auction is held, the proceeds of which go toward scholarships in nursing, forensics and similar.

Thank you Carbaugh Jewelers for donating this gorgeous Bentelli blue topaz necklace, set in sterling silver, to help our cause. Your support and kindness mean everything! 💙

💚🖤THANK YOU, TYLER! 🖤💚

Tyler joined our department 3 years ago today; he has been a such a wonderful addition to our little family.

Tyler works full time as a paramedic, and he has a young family. Despite his busy life and other commitments, Tyler always jumps in to help. He is smart, kind and has a calm demeanor, even in the most challenging situations.

I had the opportunity to shadow Tyler on a call. You can’t tell from this photo, but he’s a very tall guy. He’d been tasked with delivering terrible news to a mother. The woman was very small in stature, and already understandably very distraught. Tyler kneeled down in the dirt, and with such empathy, helped her to understand the situation.

This was truly one of the kindest acts I have ever witnessed, and one of my proudest moments. This kind of character is not learned, it’s inherent.

Thank you, Tyler, for your years of service. Thank you for leading with compassion. We are beyond lucky to have you as part of our team, our little family!

💙🖤THANK YOU! 🖤💙

This is National Police Week; National Peace Officers Memorial Day is Friday, May 15th.

We are never alone when we respond to a scene, officers are ever present. As such, we have had the opportunity to witness so many quiet, behind the scenes, acts of heroism and kindness.

March 3rd, 2023 Master Trooper James R. Bailey, who lived here with his family, and also served DeKalb County, was senselessly killed in the line of duty.

Not only this week, but EVERY SINGLE DAY, we thank the good officers we so are honored to know and to work along side. We will always remember Trooper Bailey, with his quick wit, servant’s heart and work ethic beyond measure.

Thank you to those who serve and protect.

🩷💚🩺🚔🚒THANK YOU! 🚒🚔🩺💚🩷

It’s Nurses Week! This week and every single day we are so grateful for the selfless work nurses do.

And while we’re at it, we missed International Firefighters Day as well as Confinement Officers Week. Thank you all!

Sometimes we forget special days, special weeks, but we will NEVER, EVER forget the wonderful people we are so honored to work with.

As forgetful husbands often say, go buy yourself something pretty and pretend it’s a gift from us. 🎁💐
