"As a community mental health provider myself, I refer patients to Axis Integrated Mental Health consistently - and specifically to Dare. When you work in this field, you know which providers are genuinely exceptional versus just adequate. Dare goes above and beyond to ensure patients receive the highest quality psychiatric care, stays current with evidence-based practices, and approaches each case with the clinical rigor and personal investment that this work requires. The fact that Axis has built a reputation as Denver's premier integrated mental health practice isn't accidental - it's because their clinical team maintains standards that many practices claim but don't deliver. If you're researching psychiatrists in Denver and want to know who other mental health professionals trust with their own patients, Axis consistently delivers the level of care that earns professional respect and patient loyalty."

You know that one Miley Cyrus song, ‘Wrecking Ball’? Apparently, hot flashes can feel a lot like that. And more.

But there’s another side of hot flashes that women don’t hear nearly enough about: mental health.

Research has found an association between hot flashes and more than twice the odds of significant depressive symptoms during the menopause transition.

That does not mean every hot flash means depression.

But if the night sweats are coming with poor sleep, irritability, anxiety, low energy, difficulty concentrating, or that nagging feeling of “Something’s off but I don’t know what it is,” it’s worth paying attention.

Because perimenopause can affect a lot more than your period.

And while Gen X women are exceptionally talented at saying “I’m fine” and carrying on, persistent changes in your mental health deserve more than a shrug.

We created a free ebook to help women understand the connection between perimenopause, menopause, depression, hot flashes, and mental health, as well as treatment options you can discuss with a healthcare professional.

You don’t have to diagnose yourself. You just deserve better information.

Nearly 1 in 3 women entering perimenopause develop significant depressive symptoms.

And somehow this did not make it into the little handbook we were given at 40.

Oh, right. There was no handbook.

Most women know perimenopause can bring irregular periods, hot flashes, and night sweats.

Far fewer are prepared for things like:
Waking up in a pool of sweat in the middle of January
Singing to Radiohead 1 min and going silent the next
Being irritated by approximately… everyone.
Staring at your laptop for 3 straight hours but the cursor blinking non-stop
Doing something reckless just to get that adrenaline hit

And because women in their 40s are often balancing careers, relationships, kids, aging parents, and a to-do list that reproduces overnight, it’s very easy to assume:
“I’m a little tired. It’ll be better tomorrow.”

Maybe.

But persistent changes in your mood, sleep, energy, or ability to function deserve attention too.

Understanding the connection between perimenopause and depression can help you stop blaming yourself and start asking more useful questions.

We created a free ebook for women navigating this stage of life - what may be happening, what signs to look for, and treatment options you can discuss with a healthcare professional.

Because “I don’t feel like myself” is information. Not a character flaw.

Same symptoms. Same ID number. Two very different charts.

Chronic fatigue, migraines, trouble sleeping, and lower back pain get a workup in one column and a note about stress management in the other. That gap is measurable, and it's costing patients years of unnecessary suffering.

Dr. Kartiki Churi, MD unpacks how it happens and what to do differently. One free CE hour, live Sept 1 at 2 PM MDT.
