What if God has been speaking to you, but you haven’t recognized His voice?

So many people are waiting for an audible voice or some extraordinary encounter with God. But throughout Scripture, we see Him communicating through dreams, impressions, thoughts, and ways that can feel surprisingly natural.

Learning to hear God’s voice begins with understanding how He communicates and developing the discernment to recognize what is actually coming from Him.

Just because a thought enters your mind doesn’t mean it belongs there.

In a conversation with my friend Brittany Hicks, we’re digging into something that can completely change how you approach your thought life.

We spend so much time assuming every thought in our head is our own, but Scripture teaches us to be discerning about what we’re listening to.

God speaks, the enemy speaks, and our own thoughts are constantly competing for our attention. What we choose to listen to eventually influences what we believe, how we behave, and the direction our lives take.

Learning to recognize God’s voice and challenge the thoughts that don’t align with His character is an important part of spiritual maturity. And sometimes the first step is simply realizing you don’t have to agree with everything going on in your head.

Just because you feel strongly about something doesn’t mean God is telling you to do it.

Learning to hear God’s voice requires discernment, especially when you’re facing a major decision. Sometimes our desires, fears, and emotions can be so loud that we mistake them for direction from God.

That’s why we need to slow down, examine what we’re hearing against Scripture, and invite people we trust to speak into our lives.

God gave us wisdom, His Word, and relationships with people who can help us recognize what we might be missing.
