For patients undergoing labiaplasty as their only procedure, Dr. Dumestre typically performs the procedure while the patient is awake. Local anesthesia is used to thoroughly numb the treatment area, so patients should not feel the surgical portion of the procedure.

So, what does recovery look like? Expect some swelling, bruising, and tenderness during the first several days. Most patients can return to light daily activities relatively quickly, but the area needs time to heal. Strenuous exercise and sexual activity should be avoided until Dr. Dumestre gives clearance.

Every patient’s recovery is different, and Dr. Dumestre provides individualized aftercare instructions to help support a smooth healing process.

Knowing what to expect can make the experience feel a whole lot less intimidating.

Safety starts with understanding what is beneath the surface.

In fat grafting and structural fat products like AlloClae, precision is not only about placement but also about anatomy awareness.

Ultrasound imaging allows real-time visualization of tissue layers so we can assess depth and identify key structures during treatment. The goal is to stay in the subcutaneous plane and avoid deeper muscle and vascular structures.

This is especially important in buttock treatment, where we carefully avoid the middle third of the buttock due to deeper vessels and anatomy considerations.
