🌸 For those who are newer here, I thought I’d introduce myself a little more personally.

Hi. I’m Cheryl, founder of Urban Apothecary and Fat Sam’s for Pets. Before this chapter, I spent more than 25 years in corporate marketing leadership roles while raising two boys as a single mother.

After my own health struggles and burnout, I found myself drawn toward plant medicine, herbalism, nervous system wellness, and cannabinoid science in a much deeper way.

On my personal journey, I started with one thing, and that was focusing on sleep. A good night's sleep gave me a foundation for a good day. IYKYK

What started as making formulations for myself slowly became a business, two brands .shop and ) and a community.

There is no doubt this is a calling, never did I imagine my life like this. So far 8+ years of wellness and healing.

Today, I formulate products carried by wellness practitioners across the U.S., speak and educate on stress, sleep, recovery and herbal wellness, and continue learning every day alongside this incredible community.

Urban Apothecary has become a space for conversation, curiosity, support, education, and real-life wellness that feels approachable and grounded.

Chicago blues legend Toronzo Cannon has been a longtime friend of Cheryl and Urban Apothecary, and someone who truly understands the importance of caring for the body after long nights, hard work, travel, and life lived fully.

Let's slow it down enough to let plants do what they do best. 🌿

This pairing was intentionally crafted with rose, comfrey, and house-infused frankincense resin, blended into a deeply nourishing body butter and matching botanical roller for everyday body care rituals.

Why we love these ingredients together:

✨ Frankincense resin has been traditionally used in herbalism for centuries to support recovery, mobility, and skin wellness. 📣 A little update on our community plant shelf...

We added fresh yarrow starts today, plus more free seeds out front for anyone who would like them. Help yourself.

👉🏽 If you have extra plants, divided perennials, seedlings, herb starts, or seeds, feel free to add them to the shelf for others to enjoy. And if you need a few plants to get started, please take what you’ll use. Everyone is welcome here.

This little project has become one of our favorite parts of the season, neighbors sharing extras, gardeners dropping off seedlings, people discovering new herbs and native plants they may never have tried growing otherwise.

Current shelf finds may include:
