Last month, SGFD had the honor of hosting the second quarterly luncheon for Public Information Officers from across the parish!

These meetings are simple but important: bring the people responsible for communicating with our communities together, build relationships, and make sure we’re prepared to support one another when a multi-agency incident happens.

We may not work large incidents together every day—but when we do, we don’t want to be exchanging business cards for the first time.

It’s another way your local government and first responder agencies are working together to better serve our community.

We were joined by members of:
East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services
Baton Rouge Fire Department
Office of Mayor-President Sid Edwards
City of St. George, La Police Dept.

Tropical Storm Isaias is forecast to strengthen as it moves east across the Gulf over the next two days. The latest forecast track has shifted slightly east from the previous advisory. Watches and warnings will likely be issued later this afternoon for portions of the local area.

East Baton Rouge Parish could experience winds of 10–30 mph on Friday. Residents should continue to monitor the forecast, as changes in the storm’s track or intensity could affect local conditions.

Now is the time to review your hurricane preparedness plans, secure loose outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and make sure your emergency supplies are ready.

Stay aware. Stay prepared. Stay
