You only have one brain, know your baseline! 🧠🔎✨
🧠 DID YOU KNOW? Concussion Baseline Testing Can Go Beyond a Computerized Test
You only have one brain. Know your baseline.
Many athletes and families have heard of concussion baseline testing—but a concussion can affect much more than memory and reaction time.
A comprehensive baseline gives us a picture of YOU when you're healthy, including areas commonly affected after concussion:
👀 Vision & oculomotor function — eye movements, tracking, focusing and eye teaming
⚖️ Balance & postural control
🌀 Vestibular function — how your brain processes movement and spatial information
🧠 Cognition — attention, memory, processing speed and executive functioning
🎯 Dual-task performance — what happens when your brain and body have to work together
📋 Baseline symptoms & functional performance
Why does this matter?
After a concussion, we're often asking:
"Is this different from before?"
Without a baseline, we have to estimate.
With a baseline, we have YOUR data to compare.
And if an injury does occur, that information can help identify what has changed, guide treatment recommendations, and provide another piece of the puzzle when determining readiness to return to school, work, sports and everyday activities.
Concussions aren't just a sports injury, either. Baseline testing may be valuable for athletes, active adults and individuals participating in activities with an increased risk of head injury.
Don't wait until after a concussion to wonder what your "normal" was.
🧠 You only have one brain. Know your baseline. Protect your future.
