If you’ve ever felt like your newborn is nursing every 37 seconds for hours on end, you’re not alone—and you’re definitely not doing anything wrong! Welcome to the wild world of cluster feeding.
While it can feel exhausting and leave you wondering if your supply is enough (spoiler: it likely is!), cluster feeding is a completely normal—and actually pretty amazing—part of your baby’s development.
Why do they do it?
• Boosting Supply: Your baby is sending a signal to your body to produce more milk for their next growth spurt.
• Comfort & Connection: They’re regulating their nervous system and finding safety in your arms.
• The “Fourth Trimester”: They’re still adjusting to life on the outside and you are their ultimate home base.
Survival Tips:
1. Lower the Bar: The laundry can wait. Your only job right now is you and baby.
2. Camp Out: Grab your favorite snacks, a giant water bottle, and queue up that trashy TV show you’ve been meaning to binge.
3. Teamwork: Let your partner or support system handle everything else—diaper changes, meals, and keeping you hydrated!
Remember, you’re doing an incredible job. This phase is intense, but it’s temporary. Lean into the snuggles and know that your body and your baby are working in perfect harmony.
