Just a little life update on the boy. He has recovered from his Salmonella and Ecoli adventures! He has transitioned well into football season and kissing pretty girls behind bleachers, and is currently on his way home from a visit with family in North Alabama! He has a clinic appointment next Monday and we are excited to see our team for the first time since July! Life has been semi normal and we are so so grateful for that.💚

Noah and his Dinos perched up in the window….

We have good news. Further stool testing showed that instead of both Shiga 1 and 2, he only has Shiga 1. Which is a blessing since the risk of HUS is not as much an issue now. However, his tacrolimus (antirejection/immunosuppressant) level is over doubled what it should be. So we will be staying another night unfortunately to get more fluids to protect his kidneys and recheck in the morning!

I have been holding off on posting til I know more about what is going on with Noah. However, we could use some prayers today. Over the past couple weeks he has continued to have an upset stomach and loose stools that we thought was from the salmonella. Got labs on Monday, they were fine. Then he continued to have loose stools and we decided to make sure there was nothing else going on. Sure enough, he had picked up E.coli along the way with his weakened immune system from the salmonella and that it is a harmful strain that can cause a life threatening complication called HUS (Hemolytic uremic syndrome). One of the symptoms of that is blood in the stool, which he did have yesterday. Being that HUS is such a huge risk of causing kidney failure, we were urgently sent to Children’s of Alabama for admission. Thank you GrandDimmitt and Julia, and Dr. Kassel for facilitating such a smooth ER visit and admission to the floor.

This is not a thing that I know much about. I am leaning into my resources and medical family heavily. I am scared. I know God has us and has had Noah several times, and I know this is no different. But this time I am scared. Nurse brain is off, Mama brain is on and I’m scared. Please pray for my boy.

Since I know you guys are some praying folks…yall please say a prayer for Noah’s bonus grandmother this morning as she has a procedure. She would fight tooth and nail for my boy and I, so if our prayer warriors could send a few up for her this morning we would be forever grateful! 🩷🩷🩷
