Jiu jitsu athletes fall into 2 categories for pain: push through TOO hard or pull back TOO much

For the latter, over time, you start to get weaker & less capable of handling stress.

What needs to happen instead is understanding how to work with your symptoms. Can we push through? How can we do that effectively? How can we bridge the gap back to the mats?

These questions are much more productive than continuing to pull back because of pain.

Injury recovery is hard. It's frustrating, emotional & often times, confusing. Having someone in your corner who can work with you through it all can be the difference between staying stuck & a hopeful future on the mats🫶🏼

Taking care ourselves is a lifelong learning process. It takes being kind to ourselves, yet having standards in how we show up.

Tony's sentiment of still learning at 60 is beautiful, in that human beings are always evolving & changing. So making sure we do what's best for us looks different at different stages of life & our jiu jitsu journey.

Jiu jitsu can teach us so much about ourselves, as long as we let it.
