Celebrating an outstanding academic moment from our AEGD Puerto Rico Region 🦷

On April 15, Dr. Addison Flores-Castillo’s group delivered an impressive Grand Rounds presentation to the School of Dental Medicine, highlighting an important and timely topic: “The Expanding Use of GLP-1 Medications: A Call to Awareness in Dentistry.”

Special recognition to the presenters Dr. Luis Troncoso, Dr. Ashlie Díaz, Dr. Mariannette González, and Dr. Fabianne Cañizares for their exceptional work and contribution to advancing dental education.

Celebrating an incredible achievement ✨

Dr. Al-Allaq has successfully earned her certificate from the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Leadership Institute Fellowship a prestigious, yearlong program dedicated to shaping the future leaders of academic dentistry and higher education.

Through this highly competitive fellowship, Dr. Al-Allaq has strengthened her leadership skills in decision making, strategic planning, and advocacy, while contributing to teaching, mentorship, and community outreach at local and national levels.

Her dedication to advancing dental education and commitment to leadership excellence continue to make a meaningful impact across institutions and communities. We are proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to all that’s ahead!

NYU Langone pediatric dental faculty & residents from across our sites joined programs nationwide at the AAPD Pediatric Oral Health Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC (March 7–10) 🦷

Led by Program Director Daniel Kane and Senior Associate Director Rajesh Adhia, alongside faculty Evelyne Vu-Tien, Shehzad Sajid, and Fatima Khan joined by residents Karim Aboukoura, Ali Mohammed, Robert MacArthur, Esteban Chaidez, Joseph Gasser, Crystal Smith, Heather Bogy, Glizette Arroyo Morales, Aya Kamoona, Jody Chiang, Alisha Patel, Dayna Thai, Min Kim, Christian Summers & Kayla Lane-Illescas.

Together, they advocated for key issues including HRSA Title VII funding, the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA), and strengthening federal dental infrastructure while gaining firsthand experience in the legislative process. NYU Langone proudly supported attendees with networking opportunities, a hosted dinner, and travel assistance.

The conference highlighted the importance of advocacy in advancing pediatric oral health nationwide.

Celebrating Dr. Cross on receiving the Sun Life & DentaQuest Health Access Hero Award! 🏆

As Dental Director at EXCELth, Inc., Dr. Cross has expanded access to dental care across Louisiana by launching the state’s first teledentistry program and its first NYU Langone affiliated general dentistry residency. His leadership continues to address rural dental shortages and has positively impacted the oral health of more than 5,000 individuals statewide!
