4th of July 2023 I trapped Mercury in the woods in Niagara Falls; , he was one of 14 cats/kittens trapped that night . Shelters were full! He was 4 lbs. He was supposed to be a TNR but...a firecracker went off July 5th while loading traps into the car n he wiggled out. He was gone!!! Well the plan was to do my best at finding him but he was gone! Sometime went by n then I started to get texts from neighbors that they saw him n when can I trap him, at this point he's annoying neighbors by playing with their garden hose while they wash their car. Ok ..not something a feral cat would really do...play with people , outside in the day??! He was from the woods! I was out walking n my neighbor said "please take him off my porch"...he was curled up asleep. I picked him up n amazingly I carried him to my house. He wasn't feral anymore?! Someone had obviously taken him in, tried to flip him but probably used their hands as toys cuz it took a year to stop him from attacking hands n feet! Not an easy task, I'll take a feral kitten over a badly flipped kitten any day! He was adopted but he wasn't ready n was returned. I kept working with him, and afraid he would get dumped, we decided we were what was best for him. He needs patience, he needs to get his energy out. He's this very sweet misunderstood BABY. even though he's THREE years old, he is a baby. He cries like a baby for attention, follows me around talking ,asking to be played with. And now I realize, I'm trapping this July 4th too! Well, I have plenty of zip ties now!!!
