Looking for dyslexia help, but not sure where to start?

Start with Ron Davis' best sellingbook "The Gift of Dyslexia."

Don't listen to us, here's waht others have to say:

"I LOVE this book! As someone who has dyslexia, Ron Davis' experience serves this book very well. Like most people, I've always thought if someone had dyslexia or another reading disorder it was going to make their life hard and they would always struggle. Ron Davis has definitely changed my view on that. He provides so many reasons for why dyslexia is a GIFT and not a disability."

When you are deep in the rabbit hole of looking for dyslexia help, it’s easy to get caught up in “research” in “definitions” and “symptoms.”

The reality is dyslexia affects each individual differently - what is constant is the emotions of feeling like a failure, for both you and your child.

It doesn't have to be this way, book a chat with one of our trained Facilitators

The extraordinary legacy of Ron Davis continues worldwide.

Ronald “Ron” Dell Davis, 84, of Burlingame, California, a pioneering figure in the fields of dyslexia and autism, passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2026, after a brief illness, with his wife of 52 years, Alice, by his side.

Ron devoted his life to challenging conventional ideas about dyslexia, autism, intelligence, and human potential. Drawing from his own experiences with autism and dyslexia, he developed innovative, strengths-based approaches that have helped transform the way thousands of individuals and families understand learning differences and autism.

His groundbreaking work in dyslexia began decades ago and led to the development of the Davis Methods, including mastery programs for dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia, and autism. His landmark book, The Gift of Dyslexia, published in 1994, became an international bestseller, selling over one million copies and being translated into more than 20 languages. He later authored The Gift of Learning, followed by his autobiography, Dummy, and co-authored Autism and the Seeds of Change with Abigail Marshall.

In 1995, Ron and Alice founded Davis Dyslexia Association International to train facilitators in his methods and ensure that his work could reach people far beyond his own practice. What began with Ron’s pioneering ideas grew into an international community of licensed facilitators serving individuals and families in more than 40 countries and 30 languages.

Ron’s work in autism was especially close to his heart. The Davis Autism Approach® grew from his unique understanding of autism and his belief that people on the spectrum should be supported through approaches that recognize their strengths, build understanding, and help them participate fully in the lives they choose. His work has touched thousands of individuals with autism and their families around the world.

Ron’s influence extended far beyond his books and programs. He challenged the assumption that dyslexia and autism defined what a person could learn or accomplish. He encouraged people to look beyond limitations and recognize possibilities, and he inspired generations of facilitators to carry that vision forward.

Ron often said that all things truly powerful are truly simple and his work reflects that.

Ron leaves behind not only his wife, Alice and his family, but an international community of facilitators, colleagues, friends, clients, and countless people whose lives were touched by his work. His legacy lives on in the programs he created, the books he wrote, and, most importantly, in the people who continue to believe that every individual has possibilities beyond what others may see.

Ron is survived by Alice; his sons, Ray and Philip; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and his younger brother Keith.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ronald D. Davis, founder of the Davis Method and creator of the programs that have changed how the world understands dyslexia, autism, and neurodivergent learning.

Ron grew up in a world he experienced as chaotic and painful. He didn't speak until he was 17. He couldn't read until his late 30s. And when he finally found his own way through it, he spent the rest of his life building a path for others to follow.

Ron believed that what he had created was not his to keep. It belonged to every facilitator who carried it forward, and every person whose life it changed. As he put it: "It cannot be unowned. If it's unowned, it will disappear." He entrusted that work to all of us, and the worldwide Davis community will continue to carry it forward.

Thank you, Ron, for everything you gave the world; for the millions of people who now see their own minds differently because of you; for seeing ability and possibility where others saw only limitations.

We'd love our community to share a memory of Ron, a photo, or the way his work has touched your life. Comment below, or tag us in your posts. We're gathering these to celebrate everything he gave the world.

Rest well, Ron. Your gift lives on in all of us. 💜🩵🤍

You suspect your child is autistic. Or ADHD. Or dyslexic.

But you're on a waiting list. The assessment won't happen for months. Maybe years. So you wait.
And your child keeps struggling while the system moves at a glacial pace.

You don't have to wait for a formal diagnosis to get help. If you recognize the patterns. If you see the struggles. If you know something is different about how your child processes the world—that's enough.

A diagnosis confirms what you already know, but it shouldn't be the thing that stops you from taking action.

The Davis Method works with how your child's brain actually functions, not with a label on a piece of paper. We assess your child directly. We understand their specific challenges and strengths. A formal diagnosis is helpful context, but it's not a requirement. Your instinct as a parent matters. Trust it.

'I thought I was lazy.'
'My child thinks they're stupid.'
'We've tried everything and nothing works.'

These are the opening lines of transformation stories we've documented in our Success Stories section.
Read about neurodivergent adults discovering how their brains actually work. Parents finding answers after years of confusion. Children realizing they have choices they never saw before.
Your situation might be in there. Your answer might be too. https://davismethod.com/success-story/

Your brain doesn't process words in a straight line.
It thinks in pictures. In 3D. In patterns. That's not a bug, it's a super-feature.

The Davis Method was built on this understanding. Ron Davis discovered that dyslexic and other neurodivergent minds are primarily visual-spatial thinkers.

Traditional reading instruction forces linear, phonics-based processing, which fights the brain's natural strength.

Davis works the other way: with your brain's actual processing style.

The result isn't just reading. It's confidence! Find a Davis Facilitator — www.davismethod.com/facilitator

Here's proof that Davis works for complex cases and non-responders to traditional therapies.

James was illiterate at the age of 8. He was restless and had trouble focusing. Eventually James was diagnosed with autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

After hearing about the success other students had with Davis, they sought out Davis Facilitator, Axel Gudmundsson.

His Mother said:

"By day 3 he was reading on his own. But the biggest difference was once he grasped concepts like disorder, he began cleaning up after himself. He recognized cause and effect, realizing that his actions and behaviors were directly related to consequences, ames even realized when his actions or words hurt me, and apologized, on his own accord!"
