Another tool in the toolbox.

I’m excited to share that I’ve joined the 3X4 Genetics Practitioner Community!

But here’s something important about how I practice:

I don’t believe more testing is always better.

I start with the foundations of health: movement, nutrition, sleep, stress and bowel health.

Sometimes we don’t need another test. We need to work on the basics.

But for someone who has been doing the work and still feels stuck, or simply wants to understand more about their health, genetics may give us another piece of the puzzle.

Your genes are not your destiny. And genetic testing should be approached thoughtfully because you may learn information about yourself that you can’t unlearn.

Not testing just to test.

The right tool.
For the right person.
At the right time.

That’s personalized care.

3X4 Genetics testing is now available at Spark Vital Health.

Curious if genetic testing could be useful for you?

THE OLD PLAYBOOK: “Do you take my insurance?”

I’ve been getting this question a lot lately.

The answer is no.

And there’s an important reason why.

Traditional insurance is incredibly valuable when we need it. Acute illness. Injuries. Hospitalizations. Procedures. Medications. Specialist care.

But the kind of care I provide at Spark Vital Health is different.

I’m interested in what happens before you become another diagnosis.

Why did your sleep change?

Why are you exhausted?

Why is your weight suddenly harder to manage?

Why do you feel anxious, foggy, inflamed, or simply not like yourself?

What is changing hormonally, metabolically, nutritionally, and physiologically?

And most importantly:

How do we put the pieces together?

That takes time.

It takes listening.

It takes looking at the whole person instead of chasing one symptom at a time.

My care is not designed around what an insurance company will reimburse for a visit.

It is designed around what we need to investigate your health more deeply.

And yes, that means choosing to spend money on your health.

But I want to challenge the way we think about that.

We spend money every month on things that make life more comfortable, convenient, or enjoyable.

Yet when it comes to our health, we often expect to wait until something is wrong before we're willing to spend money on it.

That’s the old playbook.

The new playbook asks:

What if I become proactive instead of waiting to become reactive?

What if I start paying attention to the whispers before my body has to scream?

What if longevity isn't simply about living longer, but about staying strong, capable, clear-minded, independent, and feeling like myself while I do it?

That is the kind of healthcare conversation I want to have.

Not just:

“What can we treat?”

But:

“What can we understand, improve, and potentially prevent?”

You don't have to wait until you're sick to start taking your health seriously.

Your health is something you live every single day.

Maybe it's time we started treating it that way.

THE OLD PLAYBOOK: “You’re still having periods. It can’t be perimenopause.”

Except…it can.

One of the biggest misconceptions about perimenopause is that you have to be skipping periods, having hot flashes, or be somewhere around 50 before it could possibly apply to you.

Meanwhile, a woman in her late 30s or 40s may be wondering:

Why am I suddenly waking up at 2 or 3 a.m.?

Why does my anxiety feel different?

Why is my body changing when I haven’t changed what I’m doing?

Why am I more irritable or emotional?

Why don’t I have the energy I used to?

Why are the things that always worked for me not working anymore?

And yes, she may still be having a period every month.

This is exactly why we need a new playbook.

Perimenopause isn’t a switch that suddenly flips when your periods stop.

It’s a transition.

And your experience deserves to be evaluated as an entire picture, not reduced to one symptom, one lab value, or whether you’re still menstruating.

So if you’ve been thinking:

“But my periods are still regular…”

That doesn’t necessarily end the conversation.

It may be where the conversation begins.

The old playbook asked:

“Are you still having periods?”

The new playbook asks:

“What’s changed?”

And that is a very different conversation.

If you’re 35+ and something has changed but you can’t quite put your finger on it, stop guessing.

There may be more to the story.

Let’s start connecting the dots and help you feel like yourself again.

Nobody told you perimenopause could start in your 30s. They probably didn't tell you the old playbook has changed either.

Maybe you're still having regular periods.

But suddenly you're waking up at 2 or 3 a.m.

Your clothes don't fit the way they used to, even though you're doing the same things you've always done.

You feel more anxious, emotional, or irritable.

Hot flashes or night sweats seem to come out of nowhere.

And somewhere along the way, you started saying:

“I just don't feel like myself anymore.”

So you try harder.

Eat less. Exercise more. Buy another supplement. Try another sleep remedy. Blame stress. Blame your age.

But what if the problem isn't that you're not trying hard enough?

What if you're using an old playbook for a body that's entering a new stage?

And the old playbook isn't limited to lifestyle advice.

For more than 20 years, many women were taught to fear hormone therapy following the 2002 Women's Health Initiative.

But here's something many women were never told.

The average woman in the WHI hormone trials was approximately 63 years old, very different from a woman beginning the menopausal transition in her late 30s, 40s, or early 50s.

More than two decades later, the conversation has changed.

Age matters. Timing matters. The type and route of hormone therapy matter. Your health history matters. And YOU matter.

Does that mean every woman needs hormones?

Absolutely not.

That's the point.

Modern perimenopause care shouldn't be about giving every woman the same answer.

Your sleep matters. Your nutrition matters. When you eat matters. Your movement and muscle matter. Your stress and metabolic health matter. Your medical history matters. And your hormonal transition matters.

Sometimes lifestyle changes make a remarkable difference. Sometimes individualized supplementation may be appropriate. Sometimes hormone therapy deserves a conversation. Often, several pieces need to be addressed together.

If you're 35+ and thinking, “Wait...this sounds like me,” don't keep guessing.

There may be a reason the things that used to work aren't working anymore.

Your body may have changed. Your playbook may need to change with it.

Ready to find out what YOUR new playbook could look like?
