I’ve been learning/reading/researching a lot about our brains and how they work in the last 6 months or so… and let me tell you, it’s one of the most eye opening things.
Did you know? Your brain doesn’t know the different between an actual “fight or flight” situation and one that you’re just making up in your head? Or let’s say you’re thinking about a bad time or a situation that made you feel scared or stupid or embarrassed… YOUR BRAIN ACTS AS THOUGH ITS HAPPENING AGAIN. 🤯
So if you’re someone that is constantly in this fight or flight stage but doesn’t understand why… I would ask… where are your thoughts? Are you constantly rethinking bad things that have happened? Playing through what you could have done different? Or just reliving it because you feel like you need to?
When your thoughts get away from you… is it about things that brought your joy and happiness? Or things that stress you out?
Your brain will continue to wire those networks if you let it. And that will become “you”. The anxious one. The overthinker. The worrier.
I think when you understand that you truly are in control… it changes the game.
Be in the present moment. See the goodness around you. Say 3 things you’re grateful for right now. Now start doing that every day. ♥️
