Most people think of DNA as a fixed blueprint that determines their health.

But your genes are listening.

One of the biggest influences on gene expression is your microbiome—the trillions of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms living primarily in your gut.

These microbes produce compounds that communicate with your immune system, hormones, metabolism, brain, and even your DNA.

This means your daily choices matter.

The foods you eat.
Your stress levels.
Your sleep habits.
Your environment.

All of these can influence the microbiome and, in turn, the signals being sent throughout your body.

This is one reason functional medicine focuses so heavily on gut health: when we improve the environment, we often improve how the body functions as a whole.

💬 Have you ever been told that a health condition "runs in your family"? What was it?

Many women have been told that PMS is simply part of being a woman.

We disagree.

While PMS is common, it is not necessarily normal.

Symptoms like irritability, anxiety, headaches, fatigue, cravings, breast tenderness, and brain fog can be signs that your body is struggling with deeper imbalances involving inflammation, blood sugar regulation, gut health, stress physiology, or hormone metabolism.

Your period doesn't create these issues—it often reveals them.

When we look beyond the symptoms and identify the root causes, we frequently see significant improvements in how women feel throughout the entire month.

You deserve answers, not just symptom management.

💬 What PMS symptom has the biggest impact on your life each month?

"I thought I was just getting older."

That's one of the most common things I hear from patients struggling with brain fog.

They tell me they're forgetting names, losing words, struggling to focus, and feeling mentally exhausted all the time.

They've often convinced themselves it's normal.

It's not.

While occasional forgetfulness happens to everyone, persistent brain fog is a symptom—not a diagnosis.

I've seen brain fog linked to chronic inflammation, hormone imbalances, blood sugar dysfunction, poor sleep, gut issues, nutrient deficiencies, chronic stress, and even hidden infections.

The challenge is that most people are looking for one cause.

The reality is that the brain is connected to everything.

That's why we don't just ask, "How's your brain?"

We ask:
• How's your gut?
• How are your hormones?
• How's your sleep?
• How's your metabolism?
• How's your stress response?

Because when we understand the whole picture, we can often help people regain clarity, focus, energy, and confidence.

Brain fog may be common.

But that doesn't mean it's normal.

Have you noticed brain fog becoming more common as you've gotten older?

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is ignoring their body's early warning signs.

We dismiss fatigue.
We normalize brain fog.
We blame ourselves for weight gain.
We assume anxiety is "just stress."

But symptoms are often your body's first attempt to get your attention.

The earlier you listen, the easier it is to address what's actually causing them.

Whether it's inflammation, hormone imbalance, gut dysfunction, blood sugar issues, chronic stress, or something else entirely, your body is usually giving clues long before disease shows up on labs.

Pay attention when your body whispers so it doesn't have to scream.

If you've been struggling with symptoms despite being told everything is "normal," you're not alone.

What symptom has been getting your attention lately?

Here's something most fasting advice completely ignores: your hormones are different every single week of your cycle.

What's safe and effective in your follicular phase can tank your progesterone, spike your cortisol, and wreck your sleep in your luteal phase. And for women in perimenopause, the stakes are even higher.

This carousel breaks down a cycle-synced approach to fasting — phase by phase — so you can work with your biology instead of fighting it.

If you've been living with brain fog and you've been told it's just stress, aging, or anxiety — I want you to hear this:

Brain fog is a symptom of brain inflammation. And brain inflammation has a root cause.

It might be a leaky gut sending inflammatory signals through the vagus nerve. It might be chronically elevated cortisol reducing BDNF — your brain's growth factor. It might be a hidden infection like H. pylori or Lyme driving systemic inflammation. It might be blood sugar instability starving your brain of consistent fuel.

Whatever the driver, the most important thing to know is this: it is reversible.

In this video I break down what brain fog actually is, what's causing it, and what it takes to clear it for good.

Most weight loss advice assumes your metabolism is working correctly. But what if it isn't — because of a bacterial infection you don't even know you have?

H. pylori infects the stomach lining, triggers chronic low-grade inflammation, disrupts cortisol and insulin signaling, and impairs your ability to absorb the nutrients your metabolism depends on. The result? Weight that won't move no matter how clean you eat or how hard you work out.

In this video I break down the connection between H. pylori, inflammation, and stubborn weight gain — and why treating the infection is often the missing piece.

Most people know stress is "bad for you" — but do you know what it's actually doing to your gut, your brain, your immune system, and your metabolism?

Chronically elevated cortisol is one of the most overlooked drivers of the symptoms I see every day in my practice: weight gain, brain fog, poor sleep, anxiety, and gut dysfunction.
Swipe through this carousel to understand what's really happening — and why finding the root cause changes everything.

If you're waking up exhausted after a full night of sleep, your body is trying to tell you something.

The problem isn't always how much you sleep — it's what's happening underneath. Cortisol patterns that are inverted. Blood sugar dips that trigger stress hormones at 2 or 3am.

A nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight that never lets you reach deep, restorative sleep.
In this video I break down the most common root causes I see behind morning fatigue — and why sleep aids and melatonin almost never fix them.

Did you know that chronic stress can physically damage your gut lining, block melatonin production, spike your blood sugar without a single bite of food, and shrink the part of your brain responsible for memory?

This is what the cortisol-gut-brain loop looks like in real life — and most people have no idea it's happening to them.

Swipe through this carousel to see how it all connects, and what we actually do to break the cycle at The Healing Center Denver.
