🎀 Happy National Mammography Day!

Today is a great day to talk about one of the most familiar — and important — tools in breast health: the mammogram.

A mammogram uses low-dose X-rays to create images of the breast. Screening mammography can help detect breast cancer before it causes symptoms, which is one reason regular screening is such an important part of breast health.

💗 If your screening is due, consider this your October nudge.
💗 If you've already had yours this year, maybe remind a friend.
💗 And if you're not sure when you should start or how often you should be screened, talk with your healthcare provider about your individual risk.

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is simply remind someone we care about to make the appointment.

🎀 What exactly is 3D mammography?

You may hear the term tomosynthesis when talking about breast screening.
Unlike a traditional 2D mammogram, 3D mammography takes multiple low-dose images of the breast from different angles. Those images are reconstructed into thin slices, allowing radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer.

Why does that matter?
🩷 Breast tissue can overlap on a traditional image.
🩷 Tomosynthesis can provide additional views through that tissue.
🩷 It can help radiologists evaluate areas that may be difficult to see on a standard mammogram.

Breast imaging isn't one-size-fits-all, and your recommended screening may depend on your age, breast density, personal history and other risk factors.

🎗️ Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
October conversations about breast cancer often focus on screening and early detection — both incredibly important — but today is also a time to recognize people living with metastatic breast cancer and the families and caregivers walking alongside them.
Metastatic breast cancer, also called stage IV breast cancer, is breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
Today, we honor those living with metastatic disease, remember those we have lost, and recognize the need for continued research, treatment options and support. 💗
Awareness means making room for every part of the breast cancer experience.

🎨 It’s a great weekend to get out and enjoy Cheyenne!

The Cheyenne Art Walk is happening tonight, October 9, bringing local artists, galleries and the community together downtown.

One of the things we love about Cheyenne is the way our community shows up for one another — whether it’s supporting local artists, attending community events or simply getting out and enjoying a beautiful fall evening.

So grab a friend, wander downtown and enjoy a little local creativity. 💗
