Medicare Open Enrollment runs through Dec. 7.
If you are living with HIV, have questions about Medicare plans and premiums, or have changing health care needs, you can make changes to your plan during Open Enrollment and get help from AFC.

For enrollment assistance, call the AFC Insurance Hotline at 312-784-9060. Bilingual services are available.

Open enrollment for Medicare runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 this year, and open enrollment period for ACA Marketplace starts Nov. 1 through Jan. 15.

If you are living with HIV, do not have employer-sponsored health coverage, and qualify for Medicare, ACA, or Medicaid, you can contact the AFC Medical Benefits team at 312-784-9060 for assistance navigating enrollment. Bilingual services are available.

The Illinois Interagency Task Force on Homelessness released a report showing major increases in chronic homelessness* last year, as well as continuing racial disparities. ⁠
⁠
The task force explicitly examines homelessness as a public health issue, echoing our continuing assertion that housing is health care.⁠
⁠
Housing programs like those administered by AIDS Foundation Chicago and the Center for Housing and Health show that stable housing leads to greater health outcomes, reduced mortality, and reduced strain on the health care system.⁠
⁠
We commend the task force for their thorough examination of homelessness and urge lawmakers to act on the findings of this report: ⁠
⁠
fund permanent supportive housing programs, build more deeply affordable housing, and join us in dismantling structural racism in health care and housing.⁠

She was selected for her career of strengthening LGBTQ+ health in Chicago by expanding HIV prevention, testing, treatment, housing, mental health, and supportive services; advancing culturally responsive public health; and building collaborative systems that have helped thousands access care, achieve viral suppression, and improving their quality of life. ⁠
