Did you know that October is Breast (& Chest) Cancer Awareness Month? CWHC offers gender-inclusive chest/breast exams, which are available for new and existing clients to schedule. We offer longer appointment times to allow for a more comprehensive approach to care, including preventive care, health education, and information on referrals for alternative care if needed.

As with all our services, breast/chest exams and other gynecological care at CWHC is trans-inclusive, trauma-informed, education-focused, and available to all regardless of ability to pay.

ONLY 3 SPOTS LEFT for CWHC's new Voice Coaching and Counseling group!

Have you ever felt anxious about how your voice relates to your gender as a trans, nonbinary, or gender non-conforming person? This course aims to equip you with strategies to help you speak with ease, freedom, and confidence.

Both a CWHC counselor and gender-affirming voice coach will guide you through a series of exercises you can use to:
-Gain vocal and therapeutic skills for finding vocal ease and regulating your emotions during anxious moments
-Build understanding and awareness of how voice- and gender-related anxiety shows up for you
-Explore gender and vocal anxiety in a welcoming space with peers

When and Where:
-Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:30pm CT
-Weekly on November 5th, 12th, and 19th
-Online

We’re offering this course on a sliding scale of $160-$0 for all three sessions. No one will be turned away based on ability to pay.

On Sunday, October 11th, Team CWHC took to the streets in the Chicago Marathon! Our incredible marathon team raised over $93,000 for respectful, sliding-scale health care and health education--the most any Team CWHC has ever raised. To put this into perspective, they have raised almost a third of the health care expenses that CWHC covers for clients in need each year.

Here are some of our favorite moments from race day at the Charity Block Party. We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and dedication of our marathon team, and it was a joy to cheer them on!

Did you know that CWHC offers Nutrition Counseling services? Jennifer M. Huelskamp, MS, CNS, LDN, a Certified Nutrition Specialist, offers sliding-scale sessions for clients who are looking for help developing a more positive relationship with food. Jennifer works from a fat positive, Health at Every Size, and trans-inclusive perspective.

Jennifer is offering virtual appointments every other Tuesday from 10am to 4pm. To schedule an appointment, call (773) 935-6126, Monday through Friday between 9am and 4pm.

Who could benefit from Nutrition Counseling?

-People looking to improve their relationship with food
-People looking to cultivate lasting habits to improve their quality of life
-People looking to make changes to the way they eat
-People experiencing conditions where nutrition can have a positive impact (such as, but not limited to): menopause, gut issues, hormone issues, lack of energy, food sensitivities, metabolic syndrome, blood sugar issues, PMOS (formerly known as PCOS), IBS, fertility, or diabetes

CWHC's Integrative Health Program is looking for like-valued volunteer providers! We are in search of a volunteer Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist and a Massage Therapist to expand the number of appointments we can offer to clients.

IHP volunteers are licensed professionals who donate their time to CWHC to offer alternative healing modalities to folks who may otherwise not be able to access them. Our volunteer providers bridge gaps in health care and health education for clients of all genders, sizes, and abilities, with no one turned away based on ability to pay.

We ask for a commitment of at least 6 months from all volunteers. If you are a licensed pelvic floor physical therapist or massage therapist interested in volunteering with CWHC's Integrative Health Program, visit bit.ly/cwhc-ihp-vol to fill out an interest form.
