Your Body Isn't Perfectly Symmetrical

Take a look at the dumbbells. 👀
One is sitting slightly higher than the other.

And that's okay.

Most of us have a dominant side. We may naturally have differences in strength, mobility, coordination, or control from one side to the other.

Perfect symmetry isn't necessarily the goal. What matters is whether those differences are affecting how you move, feel, or function.

A small difference doesn't automatically mean something is wrong. Your body doesn't have to move exactly the same on both sides to move well.

This is also where a physical therapist can help. We’re trained to look beyond a single movement and determine whether an asymmetry is simply a normal difference or something that may need attention.

The goal isn't perfect symmetry. It's strong, controlled, functional movement. 💪

🥩 Protein Does More Than Build Muscle

When you hear “protein,” you might immediately think about building muscle. But protein plays a much bigger role in keeping your body functioning and recovering well.

Your body uses protein to:

💪 Build and maintain muscle
Protein provides the amino acids your body needs to repair and maintain muscle tissue. Getting enough is especially important when you’re exercising, recovering from an injury, or trying to maintain muscle as you age.

🦴 Support bones and connective tissue
Protein contributes to the structure and maintenance of bones, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and other tissues throughout the body.

🩹 Support tissue repair
Your body needs amino acids to create new proteins involved in repairing and rebuilding tissues after exercise or everyday wear and tear.

⚡ Support enzymes, hormones & immune function
Protein is used to make enzymes, hormones, antibodies, and other molecules that help keep important processes in your body running.

🍽️ Help with fullness
Protein tends to be more filling than carbohydrates or fat, which can help support appetite control and make it easier to maintain a balanced diet.

🥣 Where does bone broth protein fit in?

Bone broth protein is different from many traditional protein powders because it is primarily made up of collagen-derived peptides and amino acids such as glycine and proline. These are especially associated with connective tissues.

That doesn’t make it a replacement for every other protein source. Whey, eggs, meat, dairy, and many plant proteins provide essential amino acids that are important for muscle protein synthesis. Bone broth protein can be another way to add protein while emphasizing nutrients associated with connective tissue.

The goal isn’t simply to take more protein. It’s to get enough high-quality protein throughout the day to support the tissues and processes your body relies on every day.

Your body is constantly repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining itself. Give it the building blocks it needs.

🧠 Strength Training is also Brain Training

When you see someone performing a complex movement, it’s easy to think the muscles are doing all the work.

But your brain and nervous system are working hard, too.

Every time you learn or practice a new movement, your brain has to coordinate:

• 🧠 Balance
• 💪 Muscle activation
• 🎯 Coordination
• ⚖️ Body positioning
• 🔄 Timing and control
• 💥 How much force to use

The more you practice, the more efficiently your nervous system can coordinate the movement.

That’s one reason physical therapy isn’t just about getting stronger. It’s also about teaching your body how to move better.

So when you see a complex exercise, remember: you’re challenging your brain just as much as your muscles.

A Benefit of Laser Therapy You Might Not Know 🔴

Laser therapy isn’t just about helping you feel better after an injury.

One lesser-known benefit is its ability to support cellular energy production. Photobiomodulation uses specific wavelengths of light that interact with cells and can help support ATP production, giving cells more energy to carry out important processes involved in tissue repair and recovery.

That means laser therapy may help support your body’s natural healing process at the cellular level, not just provide temporary symptom relief.

✨ Drug-free
✨ Non-invasive
✨ Supports tissue recovery
✨ Can be used for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions

Your body already knows how to heal. Sometimes, it just needs the right support.

As we age, maintaining hip mobility becomes increasingly important for everyday movements like squatting, getting out of a chair, stepping up stairs, and even getting down to the floor.

A squat isn’t just an exercise. It’s a movement pattern that requires mobility, strength, balance, and coordination. Keeping your hips moving and strong can help you maintain independence and confidence in the movements you use every day.

Don’t assume limited mobility is just part of getting older. Keep moving, keep strengthening, and keep your hips working. 💪

Ever notice your back, shoulders, or arms start getting tired halfway through a project?

That’s not necessarily a sign that you should stop doing the things you enjoy. It may be a sign that your body needs more strength and endurance for the demands you’re putting on it.

Think about what trimming bushes requires:
🌿 Grip strength to control the trimmer
💪 Shoulder strength to hold and maneuver it
🧍 Core strength to maintain your position
🔄 Mobility to reach and move in different directions
⏱️ Muscular endurance to keep going

Physical therapy isn’t just about recovering from injuries. It’s about building a body that can handle real-life activities without feeling limited by them.

Because being strong isn’t just about what you can do in the gym. It’s about what you can do in your everyday life.
