Celebrating the People Who Make Pikes Peak Hospice Special

This past Saturday, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care employees and their families came together at Bear Creek Regional Park for our annual family picnic.

There was plenty of fun to go around, with great food, games, face painting and even a magician to entertain the kids. But the most important part of the day was simply being together and celebrating the incredible people who make Pikes Peak Hospice what it is.

Every day, our employees bring compassion, expertise and heart to their work, caring for patients and supporting families throughout our community. They give so much of themselves to others, and we are grateful for every one of them.

The family picnic is one small way we can say thank you — not only to our employees, but also to the families who support them and share them with our community.

We are proud of the people who make Pikes Peak Hospice such a special place to work and so honored to have them serving our community.

What a beautiful day for a great cause! ⛳️💙

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was proud to take part in the Gazette Charities Foundation Empty Stocking Fund Golf Classic at The Broadmoor last Friday.

Our foursome, made up of Pikes Peak Hospice staff and board members, enjoyed a perfect blue-sky day while supporting a fundraiser that makes a meaningful difference across our community.

The Empty Stocking Fund supports 20 health and human services agencies, including Pikes Peak Hospice, that are on the front lines of helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

We’re grateful to the Gazette Charities Foundation for bringing the community together to support these important organizations — and for giving us a chance to enjoy a beautiful day on the course while supporting a cause that matters.

Learning to provide exceptional healthcare takes more than a classroom. It takes hands-on experience, mentorship and opportunities to learn directly from those who are doing the work.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is proud to support the next generation of healthcare professionals through an academic collaboration with the UCCS Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Abbie Noble recently served as a clinical preceptor for UCCS nurse practitioner student Megan Boire, mentoring her several days a week over the course of several months. Through hands-on experience with palliative care visits, Megan gained valuable insight into the role of a nurse practitioner in palliative care.

For Abbie, serving as a preceptor is about giving back. As a nurse practitioner student herself, she remembers how challenging it could be to find the right clinical preceptors. Now that she is established in her career, she wanted to provide that same important opportunity to a future nurse practitioner.

Experiences like this help students develop skills that extend far beyond clinical knowledge, including communicating with patients and families, having meaningful conversations about end-of-life care and understanding what matters most to patients.

We are grateful to Abbie for investing her time and expertise in the next generation of healthcare providers and to UCCS Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences for helping create opportunities to train healthcare professionals right here in our community.

Veterans, grab a cup of coffee and join us for conversation, camaraderie and connection.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is proud to be part of the Third Thursday Veterans’ Monthly Coffee Group at the Colorado Springs Senior Center, in partnership with the Pikes Peak Chapter of AUSA.

Held on the third Thursday of every month from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., this welcoming gathering brings Veterans from all branches of service together to share stories, connect with fellow Veterans and build community.

Whether you’re retired, separated or still serving, all Veterans are welcome.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was proud to participate in a Bingo & BBQ event hosted by The Golden Bridge Network in Woodland Park!

Alongside fellow community partners, our team enjoyed an afternoon of connection, conversation and fun while learning more about the resources available to seniors in Teller County.

The Golden Bridge Network works to connect older adults with valuable resources and support, helping seniors remain engaged, informed and connected in their communities.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to come together with community organizations, meet local seniors and families, and strengthen the connections that help our communities thrive.

Twenty years of service to others is an achievement worth celebrating! Joan Eitzen (second from left) was highlighted for her military service and 20 years as a volunteer with Pikes Peak Hospice in the June/July edition of Veterans Life Magazine. What does it mean to celebrate life when circumstances have changed?

Sometimes, it means dancing.

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care volunteer Phil Brown recently hosted a “Dance Your Ability” session at Liberty Heights Assisted Living, inviting residents to move, connect and enjoy the moment in whatever way felt right for them.

It’s a wonderful example of our mission in action.

Since 1980, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has supported thousands of patients and families through the physical, emotional and spiritual challenges that come with serious and life-limiting illness. That support is about so much more than medical care. It’s about meeting people where they are and helping them find moments of connection, joy and meaning along the way.

For some, that might be dancing. For others, it might be music, laughter, a favorite memory or simply time spent with someone who cares.

Every person deserves the opportunity to celebrate life, no matter the circumstances.

Grief can change everything. But we don’t have to walk through it alone.

Recently, Sarah Lee of Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care hosted a special screening of “Voices of Grief” at Aberdeen Ridge Independent Living Community. This powerful documentary explores grief, healing, compassion, and the importance of connection and community after loss.
