Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has been the community leader in end-of-life care for almost 42 years, founding the hospice movement in the Pikes Peak region in 1980. We are the only nonprofit, community-based hospice in El Paso and Teller Counties.Every year, we help over 2,000 patients and families navigate the challenges of a life-limiting illness with comfort, dignity and fulfillment. In

a business like this, you don’t thrive for this long, nor serve as many patients as we have, without holding to a particular standard. Ours is simple: We believe that hospice care is about living and that every patient and family deserves consistent expert care and compassionate personal attention.

Service doesn't end when the uniform comes off—it simply takes on a new form.

We're honored to see longtime volunteer and retired U.S. Army Nurse Corps officer Joan Eitzen featured in Veterans Life Magazine.

Joan's remarkable military career spanned nearly three decades, and for almost 20 years she has continued her mission of service through volunteering with Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care.

Her story is a powerful reminder that compassion, presence, and respect are lifelong acts of service. Thank you, Joan, for your dedication to veterans, patients, and families in our community.

What a wonderful day at the inaugural El Paso County, Colorado Veterans Expo!

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care was honored to serve as a sponsor and connect with veterans, military families, and community partners from across the region. Events like this provide valuable opportunities to share resources, build relationships, and ensure those who have served our country know about the support available to them.

We are proud to care for veterans through specialized hospice and palliative care services, veteran recognition programs, and community outreach initiatives that honor their service and sacrifice.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared their stories, and helped make this event such a success. We look forward to continuing to support veterans and their families throughout El Paso County and beyond.

When families face difficult healthcare decisions, trust matters.

For nearly 50 years, Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has been honored to serve our community with compassionate, high-quality hospice and palliative care. As conversations continue nationwide about hospice regulations and provider oversight, we want families and healthcare partners to know that these recent changes do not impact Pikes Peak Hospice.

Our commitment remains unchanged: providing exceptional care with compassion, dignity, accountability, and experience.

We're proud to be:
⭐ A Medicare CMS Care Compare 4-Star Rated Hospice
⭐ The region's only Level 5 We Honor Veterans partner
⭐ Nationally recognized for our new Inpatient Care Center's thoughtful design
⭐ ACHC Accredited
⭐ Named a 2025 Best Workplace by The Gazette

Most importantly, we're proud of the trust families place in us every day.

Every Memorial Day, thousands of American flags transform Pikes Peak National Cemetery into a powerful tribute to those who served our nation.

This year, more than 200 volunteers came together with Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care and Flags for Fallen Vets to place flags throughout the cemetery, ensuring every veteran is honored and remembered.

For Sonya Bergeron, Veteran Liaison at Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care, the event reflects the strength of community partnerships and a shared commitment to honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Each flag tells a story. Each placement is an act of gratitude. And together, these thousands of small gestures create a moving reminder that our veterans will never be forgotten.

Watch our new video to see this meaningful tradition in action.

Special thanks to Tamma Phillips, Media Producer with Resilient Art Productions, for beautifully capturing the spirit and significance of this event.

We were honored to see Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care featured in several local media stories over Memorial Day weekend — so many, in fact, that we decided to combine them into one post.

Recent coverage highlighted our Flags for Fallen Veterans event at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, our annual Illuminations luncheon, and the continued impact of hospice care throughout the Colorado Springs community.

We’re grateful to our volunteers, donors, community partners, staff, and families who help make this work possible every day. These stories are a reflection of the strong connections and compassionate support that continue to define our mission.

We’ve had so many wonderful community events recently that we had to combine them into one post — and honestly, we think that says a lot about how connected Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is to the Colorado Springs community.

From Wine Down Wednesday at StoneCreek of Flying Horse, to educational events supporting older adults, to Memorial Day celebrations and meaningful celebrations of life, we are grateful for every opportunity to support, connect, and serve alongside our community partners.

These moments of companionship, advocacy, remembrance, and joy are part of what makes our work so meaningful every day.
