It's important we give people their flowers while they are still here.

Babies are miniature humans — and just like adults, they also get thirsty more often when it’s hot out!

If you and baby are spending more time outside this summer (and we hope you are), expect baby to nurse more often.

These extra feedings may be more “snack size” but their importance is huge! Babies are at more risk of getting dehydrated than adults are, especially young babies.

Here are some signs that baby is dehydrated that you should watch for:
☀️Sunken eyes
☀️Crying with little or no tears
☀️Fussiness
☀️Extra sleepy
☀️Cold or discolored hands and feet
☀️A sunken soft spot on the top of their head (for newborns)
☀️Doesn’t want to play (older babies and toddlers)
☀️A dry diaper for 6 hours or longer

It’s important for you to stay hydrated too, especially if you’re breastfeeding. Make sure to drink extra water to thirst, and make sure you’re offering baby plenty of opportunity to feed too.

Breast milk is digested quickly, which is why babies feed so frequently (it’s not because your supply is low).

Your breast milk is specifically designed for your baby and contains enzymes like amylase and lipase that aid in digestion. Breast milk is also absorbed better than formula due to its perfect composition.

Babies are meant to feed frequently. It’s the way to guarantee lots of contact with their primary caregiver, which is beneficial for bonding, temperature regulation, and reducing stress! It also has a protective component, keeping them from going into too deep of a sleep (helping prevent SIDS).

Best of all, frequent breastfeeding helps baby gain a good amount of weight, and establishes and maintains a good milk supply.

They really will bite you with the strength of a medieval warrior… then smile like you’re overreacting.

Sir. You just turned my ni**le into pulled pork.

If you are breastfeeding now:
- Unclench your jaw.
- Drop your shoulders.
- Get comfortable.

Breastfeeding is about your baby AND you. You are just as important, as your baby.
Please share this with a breastfeeding parent to help them feel better.
