The Sunday Scaries 😫 is just your nervous system bracing for impact before Monday morning even arrives.

🍃Many spend Sunday evenings shallow breathing, mentally solving tomorrow's problems, and leaving their bodies in a state of high alarm.

🌊This mindful river reset is your invitation to slow your breath down to match the continuous flow of the water. Letting the river pace you signals your brain that it is safe to rest right now. Tomorrow will have its own wave-you don't have to ride it tonight.

🍃If your chest felt tight or you couldn't hold the slow pace on the first try, your body is just asking for a downshift.

📍Save this post so you can find this breathing space whenever your week starts to feel too loud or overwhelming.

⚓️Staying inside your comfort zone, avoiding hard things, and pulling back from the experiences that make your heart race lowers your anxiety for an hour. But just like a ship tied to a wooden dock for too long, staying hidden causes your world to slowly shrink and decay.

🌊Expanding your world doesn't mean waiting for the open ocean of life to go perfectly flat before you launch. It means learning how to trust your ship, untie the ropes, and face the chop anyway. The growth you are looking for is waiting out past the breakwater.

⛵️Save this post for the next time your fear tries to convince you that staying hidden is the same thing as staying safe.

🦈Welcome to Shark Week with a therapeutic twist! 🐢

🌪️ Anxiety is an unreliable narrator.

Anxiety relies heavily on a cognitive distortion called “catastrophizing.” This is an automated survival mechanism where your brain treats a remote possibility as an absolute probability.

But remember: Just because a thought feels loud doesn’t make it a fact.

🛑 When we slow down and examine our surroundings—much like seeing how the shark and turtle can co-exist peacefully under the same ledge—we train our brains to hold the whole truth, not just the fear.

Happy 150th Colorado! 🏔️✨

Today, we celebrate the incredible land we get to call home. As a nature therapy practice, we see firsthand how Colorado’s majestic mountains, quiet trails, and expansive skies offer profound healing, clarity, and peace.

Nature isn't just a backdrop for our lives; it is a powerful partner in our mental health and well-being. Today and every day I encourage you to disconnect from the noise, step outside, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Whether you find comfort in a quiet forest walk or standing on a sunny peak, take a moment to connect with the earth beneath you.

Fear has a way of convincing us that we should stay where it's safe. But what if fear isn't always a warning to stop? What if, sometimes, it's a sign that you're growing?

Many of the most meaningful moments in life—starting therapy, setting boundaries, having a difficult conversation, pursuing a dream, or making a big life change—can feel scary because they matter.

Counseling isn't about getting rid of fear. It's about learning to understand it, make space for it, and choose actions that align with your values instead of letting fear make your decisions.

Courage isn't about feeling fearless. It's about taking the next step, even when fear is walking beside you.

What's one thing you've been wanting to do but fear has been holding you back from?

This one’s for all my nature-loving bookworms 🍃📚

I just finished The Nature Fix, and it was a great read. It dives into the many benefits of spending time outdoors—from reducing stress and improving focus to supporting overall mental well-being. It also explores research on how nature may help support people managing conditions such as ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

One of my biggest takeaways was how powerful even small moments of connection with nature can be. The book highlights research showing that even brief experiences with nature—like a 5- to 15-minute walk in a city park or simply looking at trees through a window—can have measurable effects on stress levels. It’s a beautiful reminder that connecting with nature doesn’t always require a big adventure; small moments matter, too.

As a nature therapist, I appreciate books like this that bring together research and remind us of the meaningful role nature can play in supporting our well-being. 🌿

Spring isn’t a rush; it’s a gradual reawakening.
If you're feeling unsteady with the change of season, take a cue from the mountains behind me. They don't force growth, and they never rush. They just hold.
Give yourself permission to move slowly this week. Ground before you grow. Notice what keeps you steady.
