As summer approaches it’s end, I would like you to mark your calendar for this interactive event:

Mind Over Mirror: Building Resilience Beyond the Reflection
Oct 8, 2026 from 7-8:30pm

Join me Debra Spector, MS, RDN, CDN, a Registered Dietitian specializing in eating disorders and body image, Morgan DiPrimo, Founder & CEO of Align33 Media , and Francesca Emma, LMHC, a licensed mental health therapist, for an engaging and interactive workshop exploring the connection between body image, eating disorders, mental health, and self-worth.

Blending lived experience with clinical expertise, this powerful conversation will examine the warning signs of eating disorders, the impact of social media and perfectionism, how to support someone who may be struggling, and practical strategies for building resilience, confidence, and a healthier relationship with food, body, and self.

Whether you’re a parent, educator, coach, healthcare professional, student, or community member, you’ll leave with greater understanding, practical tools, and hope—along with the reminder that healing begins with connection, compassion, and conversations that matter.

School is right around the corner… be mindful of your algorithms, the influencers you follow, and if you’re a parent: how many hours your child/children are on social media

A much needed body image message during the summer 🏖️

As a 61-year-old woman, I would have to be blind to not notice the changes in my body 💙💚

How do I get dressed every day and move forward in a body obsessed world where people post and filter their best pictures on social media?

💚💙 I put things into perspective that make me feel grateful for my body and what it has achieved:

💙💚 My arms:
with skin that has become crepey, BUT who have hugged my adult children throughout their lives to provide encouragement on days that were rough. That have hugged my patients who have needed support on days that have unraveled them because of body image.

💙💚 My legs:
with their varicose veins and cellulite are more pronounced from aging, BUT have carried me from place to place in situations that would leave other people frozen in their spots.

💙💚 My stomach:
that has a scar from hip bone to hip bone that gave life to both of my children that I see at least twice a day:
1. When I get dressed in the morning and shower.
2. When I get in my pajamas at night.

So my message will be the same day after day and year after year: 💙💚 Be grateful for that body of yours no matter what it looks like because your more than society often makes you feel.

With HS graduations around the corner in a world of uncertainty with career choices because of AI: CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done 🧑‍🎓👩🏼‍🎓👨🏾‍🎓

🎓 As I wish you good luck on your next journey, I want to share with you a bit of mine… that has nothing to do with food.

🎓 After 36 years of upholding a private practice where I have helped thousands of people establish a normal relationship with food, weight and body image, I can tell you that the beginning of my journey was not a simple task.

🎓 At this present time, no one has ever asked me what grade I achieved in organic chemistry or knows that I worked at Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island, NY.

🎓 The point of sharing this with you is not to share my life, but to encourage you to keep moving forward. Your journey will change, as did mine. Your path and the direction you’re moving is part of that journey.

🎓 I know, at the age of 61, my journey is not over and I keep moving forward with new challenges every single day!

🎓 I wish you the best of luck in whatever direction you’re headed and if your direction changes, it was meant to be.

In a world where most people still don’t know what a Registered Dietitian is, I feel compelled to share with you my profession I’ve upheld, that I ❤️, for the last 36 years:

I am not a social media influencer (and not trying to be).

My social media platforms are meant for medical nutrition therapy education.

I don’t sell any products.

It’s not about likes, comments, or followers.

I am a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist. All nutrition information I share is evidence-based; meaning it can be backed up with REAL nutrition science.

Please be mindful of where you get your nutrition information from. Last I checked, as a medical provider, my specialty is nutrition.
I don’t have a degree in oncology, cardiology, rheumatology, or gastroenterology. I refer to my colleagues who specialize in this.

So if you’re looking for nutrition education, refer to a Registered Dietitian and remember:
ChatGPT, AI, Google and Siri are not medical providers…

🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏿 Balance and flexibility in your later years are imperative to your health and well-being.

As a physically active woman since I was a teenager, the kind of body movement I do has changed significantly over the years.

I taught aerobics in college, I was a runner in my 30’s who fell and had to have knee surgery, I was in a car accident which has taken pickle-ball out of my life and reduced my hiking days, plus my ability to use the stairmaster ever again at the gym.

🧘🏻‍♀️ Yoga, which I’ve done in the past, has now become a significant part of this new journey for me.

This is a gentle reminder that pushing yourself through injuries to do any form of body movement will likely incur more damage than good.

Learning to adapt as we age is part of being human. So check in with yourself and ask yourself why you’re doing the exercise you’re doing?

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day 🌷

An important message to those moms with daughters👩‍❤️‍👩

👩‍❤️‍👩 As a role model, it is of the utmost importance that you obtain a normal relationship with your own body to send a strong message that you’re ok no matter what size or shape you’re in.

👩‍❤️‍👩 Body shaming yourself and saying awful things about your size or weight will trickle down, believe me.

👩‍❤️‍👩 Please teach your daughters that they are more than the number on a scale…

👩‍❤️‍👩 Please prioritize your daughters resilience, intelligence, and self worth that have nothing to do with how she looks…

👩‍❤️‍👩 Please educate her on how the advertising world (including social media) will make her feel not good enough. That’s how they make money…

👩‍❤️‍👩 These pictures are of me and my mom (who I lost last year and would do anything to have another day with her) and me and my daughter. If you are lucky enough to be with your mom tomorrow: be present and don’t make it about your body 👩‍❤️‍👩

👩‍❤️‍👩 My book and social media content were written for support and educational purposes only. They are not meant to replace therapy, nutritional counseling or medical care 👩‍❤️‍👩

👙🩱🩳 A quick reminder for those of you killing yourselves to get a “better bod” to wear your bathing suit this summer…

No one gives a 💩 what you look like in your bathing suit or is looking at you unless you show up wearing what I’m wearing in this picture 🤣

No one on the beach knows your “before or after” pictures so stop scrolling through your photos from 10 years ago thinking that you’re going to look like that again ….newsflash you’re not gonna look like that anymore and that’s okay.

Remember one of my favorite Debisms, “Confidence is sexier than a size zero”. So put that bathing suit on with your head held high and enjoy the sunshine and the sound of the waves hitting the beach!! With the weather being as wonky as it’s been- you can’t take these beach days for granted 🏝️
