Struggling with sleep? You’re not alone — and it’s not just about “better habits.” I dealt with sleep issues most of my life, and what finally changed things wasn’t another tip list. It was understanding the why behind it.

In the video, I shared 3 places to start:
🌙 Decompress before bed — protect a couple hours of true downtime each evening, even if the to-do list isn’t done
🌡️ Set the scene — cool, dark, quiet bedroom
🧠 Change your relationship with sleep — take the pressure off (this is where a CBT-I approach comes in)
These are just the starting point. On Thursday, Sept 10 (6:30–8:00 PM), Dr. Luciana Silva and I are going deeper at our Auspicious Brew Integrative Wellness Series event: Sleep Better, Recover Deeper: A Root-Cause Approach to Energy & Burnout.

We’ll cover why sleep issues really happen, the stress-hormone-sleep connection, how to spot burnout before it wrecks you, and which supplements actually help (and when to be cautious with them).

You’ll walk away with a real, structured plan — not just more tips.

What a weekend! 🌾💚 We had the best time at Live Freely Fest at Applecrest Farm, sharing craniosacral therapy mini sessions, personalized tea blends, and lots of good conversation about health and healing. Being surrounded by 120+ female-owned businesses in that gorgeous farm field was such a reminder of how much talent and heart exists in our community. And the turnout? Unreal. So many of you came out to support small businesses, and we felt it in every conversation all weekend long. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, asked questions, and let us be part of your day — we’re so grateful to be part of this community. See you at the next one! 🙌

We just found out we’ve been nominated for Best Alternative Medicine Practice in this year’s Seacoast Community’s Choice Awards — and we’re genuinely so touched.

This isn’t the kind of thing we chase after. It’s decided entirely by nominations and votes from people in this community, which makes it mean a lot more to us than an award we could apply for ourselves.

If Aya has been part of your health journey — whether you’ve been a patient for years or you just follow along here for the health content — we’d be so grateful for your vote.

👉 Link in bio to vote (it takes less than a minute). Swipe for the exact steps.

Voting is open through August 31, and you can actually vote once a day — so if you’ve got 30 seconds today and tomorrow, that’s twice the support. And if you vote in 25+ categories on the ballot, you’re automatically entered to win a $250 gift card.

Thank you for being part of this practice, in ways big and small. 💛

Hormones can be confusing—and the internet doesn’t always make them easier to understand.

Is it PMS? Perimenopause? Stress? Your thyroid? Blood sugar? Sleep? Or a combination of several things?

This week, Dr. Luciana Silva and Dr. Sarah Jeffrey of Aya Naturopathic Medicine are helping decode the bigger picture at our free workshop:

Hormones, Mood & Metabolism: Supporting Your Body at Every Stage

We’ll talk about some of the most common concerns we see in practice, including menstrual changes, PMS, perimenopause, menopause, mood shifts, fatigue, sleep, metabolism, brain fog, and healthy aging.

Dr. Luciana will share her expertise in hormonal and metabolic health, while Dr. Sarah will connect the conversation to mental health, brain health, longevity, and dementia prevention.

Our goal is to help you better understand what may be happening in your body, what deserves a closer look, and how individualized care can support you through every stage.

The conversation around Alzheimer’s disease is changing—and that’s good news.

The World Health Organization has released updated guidelines highlighting that up to 45% of dementia risk may be preventable or delayed by addressing modifiable lifestyle and health factors.

At Aya Naturopathic Medicine, this is exactly why we’re so passionate about prevention. As New Hampshire’s only RECODE®-certified practitioner, Dr. Sarah Jeffrey uses the evidence-based RECODE/PreCODE approach to identify the unique factors that influence each person’s brain health long before symptoms become severe.

Brain health isn’t determined by one gene or one supplement. It’s the result of many interconnected systems—metabolic health, inflammation, sleep, hormones, nutrition, exercise, stress resilience, cognitive engagement, social connection, and more. The goal isn’t simply to reduce disease risk—it’s to optimize how your brain functions throughout your lifetime.

The exciting part? Many of the biggest drivers of cognitive decline are things we can actually do something about. The earlier we begin supporting brain health, the greater the opportunity to preserve memory, cognition, and quality of life.

Prevention starts long before a diagnosis. 🧠✨

We’re putting the finishing touches on something special for Women’s Wednesday at Banya Sauna & Cold Plunge | Portsmouth NH 🌿

This week, we’re making three handcrafted herbal syrups inspired by the sauna ritual itself:
🌺 Desert Rose
🌿 Cool Mint Meadow
🌲 Forest Bath

Next Wednesday, we’ll gather for an evening of sauna, cold plunge, rest, and connection while exploring how heat and cold can support the nervous system, mood, circulation, recovery, and resilience.

This isn’t a lecture or a class. It’s a guided experience where you’ll learn by doing, move at your own pace, and leave with a better understanding of how to use hydrotherapy intentionally and confidently.

Whether you’re brand new to sauna and cold plunge or it’s already part of your routine, we’d love to have you join us.

Sometimes our favorite nutrition recommendations don’t come from a textbook—they come from spending time in our community.

Last weekend, Dr. Luciana and I joined the incredible women of for a morning of paddleboarding, sunshine, and connection. One of the highlights? Meeting the team behind , a women-owned business right here in Hampton, NH.

If you know me, you know I have a soft spot for a good bagel. They’re just not usually a breakfast I recommend.

So when I learned these are made with clean ingredients, have 15 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and just 3 grams of sugar, I was intrigued.

Then we tasted them.

Then we bought the mix.

Then we made them at home... and they absolutely lived up to the hype.

I love finding foods that don’t make you choose between nutrition and enjoyment. This is one of those rare finds that feels like a treat while still supporting steady energy and a protein-forward breakfast.

A huge thank you to for bringing together such an inspiring community of women, and to for creating a product we’re genuinely excited to keep in our own kitchens.

Here’s to supporting local, women-owned businesses—and eating food you actually look forward to. 🥯💛

Two people can have the exact same LDL cholesterol level—and very different cardiovascular risk.

That’s because a standard lipid panel tells us how much LDL cholesterol is present, but not the number or type of LDL particles carrying it.

Advanced cholesterol testing can provide a much clearer picture of cardiovascular risk and help personalize prevention strategies.

We’ve created an Advanced Cholesterol Panel that you can order yourself—no appointment required. Visit the link in our bio to learn more.

Everyone is talking about GLP-1 medications for appetite control right now, but what if we told you that your body already has a built-in fullness system?

The challenge is that most of us have never been taught how to hear it.

Fullness signals take time to reach the brain. When we’re eating quickly, distracted, stressed, or multitasking, it’s surprisingly easy to eat past the point of satisfaction before those signals arrive.

That’s why we created the NOURISH Method—a simple 7-step practice that helps you slow down, reconnect with your hunger and fullness cues, and work with your physiology instead of against it.

We don’t expect anyone to master all 7 steps overnight. Pick the ONE letter that feels most helpful and start there.

👇 Drop your letter in the comments:
N = Notice
O = Observe Hunger
U = Use Your Senses
R = Relish the First Bites
I = Intentional Environment
S = Stop Midway
H = Honor Fullness

Which one are you going to practice this week?
