Let's talk Bee Balm!
Botanical Name: Monarda
Common names: Bee balm, bergamot, wild bergamot, horsemint, and Oswego tea
Bee balm is a great herb with many medicinal properties. You can use any color bee balm as long as it is in the Monarda family. The ariel parts are used for medicine (leaves, stem and flowers).
This plant offers digestive support, respiratory and immune support, mild calming on the nervous system and skin issues when used topically. Also, the humming birds, butterflies and bees love it! A pollinator favorite!
Tea: The petals and leaves can be steeped fresh or dried to make a tea.
Steam Inhalation: Placing fresh leaves in a bowl of hot water and breathing in the steam can help target respiratory issues.
Poultice: Crushed or chewed leaves can be placed directly on the skin to treat stings, scrapes, and rashes
