๐ŸŽโœ๏ธ TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY! ๐ŸŽ’๐ŸšŒ

For many families, tomorrow means BACK TO SCHOOL! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Whether your child is excited, nervous, overwhelmed, or a little bit of everything, tonight is a great time to slow things down & help set the stage for an easier morning.

๐ŸŒ™ A few things you can do TONIGHT:

๐ŸŽ’ Pack backpacks now. Double check folders, supplies, water bottles, communication devices, & anything else your child needs.

๐Ÿ‘• Lay out clothes & shoes. One less decision in the morning can make a BIG difference!

๐ŸŽ Plan breakfast and lunch. Even knowing what's on the menu can help children who feel more comfortable with predictability.

๐ŸšŒ Review tomorrow's routine. Talk through what will happen: Wake up โ†’ get dressed โ†’ eat breakfast โ†’ brush teeth โ†’ backpack โ†’ bus/car โ†’ school.

โฐ Give yourself extra time. A rushed morning can be stressful for everyone. Setting the alarm just 10โ€“15 minutes earlier can give your family a little breathing room.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Keep the conversation positive but don't dismiss the nerves. Instead of โ€œThere's nothing to worry about,โ€ try:
โ€œIt's okay to feel nervous. New things can feel hard, and we'll figure it out together.โ€

๐Ÿงธ For children who struggle with transitions: Consider using a visual schedule, countdown, first/then language, or a familiar comfort item if their school allows it.

โค๏ธ And parentsโ€ฆ this one is for YOU.

Tomorrow might be emotional for you, too. You may feel excited, nervous, relieved, worried, proudโ€”or all of those things before you've even finished your first cup of coffee! โ˜•๐Ÿ˜‚

Give yourself some grace.

The first morning doesn't have to be perfect. The clothes don't have to match. Breakfast doesn't have to be Pinterest-worthy. And if someone cries at the bus stopโ€ฆ even if it's Mom or Dadโ€ฆ that's okay too. ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ

Take the pictures. Give the hugs. Remind them how proud you are.

Then send them off knowing they have an entire team of people cheering them on.

๐ŸŒŸ Here's to a safe, happy, & successful school year for every student, family, teacher, therapist, paraprofessional, bus driver, administrator, and staff member!

You've got this! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Hello Eagle Park Families,

The first day at Eagle Park Community School is scheduled for Monday, August 24. If your district is open on Monday, you will receive transportation to school. Your district's transportation department will be in communication with you about their plans and ability to transport.

If your school is not yet able to transport, you are welcome to bring your child to Eagle Park. We understand that may not be possible for some families. If your child is unable to attend school on Monday due to lack of transportation, we will be working on a plan to make up for missed instructional time, in accordance with our districts and the Department of Education.

Please make sure your registration is completed before our first day of school. The Eagle Park office is open Thursday and Friday this week, if there are items that you need to finish.

Please know we understand that many families are still experiencing difficulties and hardships from last week's storms. If your family is not ready for your child to return to school, please do not feel rushed.

Please reach out to Eagle Park for assistance so that we know how to support you. You can reach the Eagle Park office by calling 219-769-4085. NISEC "Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative" We want to get back to providing a sense of structure for our students, but realize that some families may need a bit more time before starting school.

We are so excited to have students back in the building soon!
