🤍 PROVERBS CHALLENGE | DAYS 6–10
Faith, relationships, and how obedience can lead to freedom and mental well-being
The world can keep us distracted—busy chasing relationships, managing responsibilities, or holding tightly to the future we imagined. Sometimes we don’t realize how much these things are affecting our peace until something changes.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a believer, I care about the whole person. Our relationships, emotional experiences, and—for those who believe—our relationship with God deeply influence our well-being.
Medication can be an important part of treatment. But medication alone cannot change a painful truth, make a relationship healthy, or do the work of grieving and healing for us. It also doesn’t change our situations at work, with coworkers, or how we respond to others.
We need support, honest reflection, healthy boundaries, and tools for moving forward. For me, God’s Word is foundational to that process.
These five chapters remind us to seek wisdom:
📖 DAY 6 — Proverbs 6:23
“For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light…”
God’s instruction brings light to decisions that our emotions can make difficult to see clearly.
📖 DAY 7 — Proverbs 7:2
“Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.”
Keep God’s teaching close, especially when your feelings are pulling you in another direction.
📖 DAY 8 — Proverbs 8:11
“For wisdom is better than rubies…”
Nothing we desire—not a relationship, status, or the life we pictured—is more valuable than wisdom.
📖 DAY 9 — Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…”
Wisdom begins with reverence for God and a willingness to let His truth shape our choices.
📖 DAY 10 — Proverbs 10:17
“He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction…”
Receiving guidance means being willing to respond to it, including when correction is uncomfortable.
— Verse excerpts: KJV
Life can bring relationship changes, career transitions, and criticism that weighs on our hearts. In those moments, it’s easy to let fear, other people’s opinions, or our own emotions shape what we believe about ourselves.
God’s Word reminds us to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). We can examine our thoughts, receive helpful correction, and release messages that do not reflect His truth.
Sometimes something we deeply want is not where God is leading us. Seeking wisdom means being willing to reconsider our plans and follow His guidance.
Through setbacks, Scripture offers peace, perspective, and direction. Faith does not make grief disappear, but it gives us somewhere to bring it.
🙏 Seek wisdom. Pray for God’s guidance. Listen, test what you sense against Scripture, and be willing to follow.
Have your feelings ever pulled you one way while God’s direction led you another? As a result, did you rely more on medication? Did you continue following your feelings, or yield to His guidance? What did you learn?
