Dr. Zia recently spent an inspiring week with the next generation of hematology researchers at the American Society of Hematology Clinical Research Training Institute (CRTI)! 🩸🔬

Mentorship has played an important role in shaping Dr. Zia’s own career, making it especially meaningful to spend the week with talented early-career investigators as they refined their research questions, challenged one another, and built collaborations and mentoring relationships that will help shape their paths.

The experience was a great reminder that investing in the next generation of investigators is every bit as important as the science itself. ✨

And the best part? Dr. Zia returned home with a new mentee for the year ahead—adding to her growing community of mentees and continuing the cycle of learning, mentorship, and collaboration. ❤️

Looking back at an incredible week at in Paris! 🩸🔬🇫🇷

Proud to see members of the Zia Research Program share our work in pediatric thrombosis and pulmonary embolism on an international stage!

UT Southwestern medical student Anat Fuskman presented a poster titled “Persistent Dyspnea After Pediatric Pulmonary Embolism Is Common and Multidimensional.”

As the site PI for Dr. Zia’s FUVID study, Dr. Clay Cohen delivered an oral presentation on clot burden as a predictor of post-PE syndrome, while undergraduate student Faiha Khurram presented findings on prognostic biomarkers of post-thrombotic sequelae.

Dr. Zia, serving as senior author on all three presentations, led the group at ISTH 2026! 🩸
