The next person ready to respond could be in your classroom, on your team, or down the hall. With SCAF’s SCA Education Toolkits, you can help young people turn awareness into action.

With editions for college campuses and middle and high schools, these resources give educators, coaches, advisors, and youth leaders practical ways to bring sudden cardiac arrest preparedness to their communities.

Through interactive activities, students can learn to recognize SCA, understand the importance of calling 911 and starting CPR, explore AED access, and challenge common myths. Toolkits include facilitator guides, discussion prompts, and printable materials to help you get started.

This Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, make education part of being Ready to Respond. Share the toolkits with someone who can bring these lessons to young people in your community.

A huge thank you and shout-out to the Heartbeat 100 Ride and Franklin and his family for raising nearly $13,000 for the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation in honor of his wife Jess, who tragically lost her life to sudden cardiac arrest in 2022.

On October 4, Jess’s husband, Franklin, their daughter, Miriam, and a group of friends rode 100 miles in her honor. What a tremendous way to keep her memory alive and help protect other families from experiencing a similar loss.

We are so grateful to everyone who participated in this ride and helped honor Jess’s memory and bring hope to other families through lifesaving action. 💙

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Ray Fowler, a respected pioneer in emergency medical services and a valued member of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation’s Advisory Council.

We are grateful for Ray’s friendship, his contributions to SCAF, and his dedication to advancing cardiac arrest care. It was a privilege to work alongside him, and he will be greatly missed.

SCA survivor, SCAF ambassador and founder of the 7HF Freligh Foundation, Heather Freligh, is bringing the Ready to Respond message to Paris, France, with a stop at one of the world’s most recognizable landmarks. 🇫🇷

Another tremendous week of Ready to Respond events is in the books! ❤️

In workplaces, schools, and community spaces, people came together to practice hands-only CPR, learn how to use an AED, and build the confidence to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

Every person trained is another person who can step forward when help is needed. Every event brings us closer to communities where more people are ready to act.

To our hosts, instructors, volunteers, partners, and everyone who participated this week: thank you for turning awareness into action. You’re making this Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together.

On October 16, World Restart a Heart Day, we join a global call to learn CPR and be prepared to act when someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest.

Call - Push - Shock: Call 911, push hard and fast in the center of the chest, and use an AED as soon as one is available. Knowing these steps can help you respond when every second counts.

Behind every lifesaving response is someone willing to step forward, a friend, coworker, family member, or stranger whose actions can make all the difference.

That’s why, throughout Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, our Ready to Respond campaign is bringing communities together to learn hands-only CPR, AED use, build confidence, and turn awareness into action.

Life after cardiac arrest can bring unexpected challenges, questions, and emotions. You don’t have to navigate them alone.

CASA, Cardiac Arrest Survivors Alliance, a program of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, is a free online community where cardiac arrest survivors can connect with others who understand the experience and find support for life after cardiac arrest.

CASA also welcomes co-survivors and responders who may be navigating their own experiences following a cardiac arrest.

💙 Connect with others who understand what you’re going through
💙 Find information, resources, and support
💙 Share questions, experiences, and encouragement
💙 Build connections with people who understand that the impact of cardiac arrest can continue long after the emergency
