Partnership in Action

Last week, SCAF Executive Director Gina Peattie visited our partners at Defibtech headquarters in Branford, Connecticut, for a behind-the-scenes tour of their facility and conversations about the important work ahead.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with the Defibtech team, learn more about their lifesaving technology, and continue building a strong partnership focused on increasing awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and the importance of AED access.

Pictured here with Gina are AJ Pace, President & CEO, and Mike Papale, Manager of Strategic Affairs. Thank you to the entire Defibtech team for the warm welcome!

We're proud to work alongside partners who are committed to helping create safer, more prepared communities.

Congratulations to our incredible high school intern, Samya, on her graduation! 🎓

Over the past year, Samya has been a valued member of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation team, bringing passion, creativity, and a strong commitment to raising awareness about sudden cardiac arrest.

This fall, she will begin an exciting new chapter at the University of Virginia, and we're especially proud that she plans to continue advocating for sudden cardiac arrest awareness on campus.

Samya, thank you for all you've contributed to SCAF. We can't wait to see the impact you'll make at UVA and beyond. Wishing you all the best as you begin this next adventure!

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who lead with strength, love, and unwavering support.

At the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, we know that many fathers in our community are survivors, caregivers, advocates, first responders, and champions for lifesaving awareness. Others are remembered with love and continue to inspire our mission every day.

This Father's Day, we honor the dads who show up for their families, encourage healthy hearts, learn lifesaving skills, and help make their communities safer.

To all the fathers and father figures in our SCA community, thank you for the impact you make, both seen and unseen.

Happy Father's Day. 💙

Welcome to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation’s ! It’s been a very eventful week this week for the foundation. We traveled to Connecticut to visit our partner, Defibtech. Thank you so much to the entire Defibtech team for the warm welcome and hospitality.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Myth vs. Fact

🚫 Myth: Young athletes don't experience sudden cardiac arrest.

✅ Fact: Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in young athletes and can strike seemingly healthy individuals of any age, even those with no known heart condition.

That's why preparedness matters. Having an Emergency Action Plan, ensuring AEDs are readily accessible, and training coaches, staff, athletes, and spectators in CPR can make the difference between life and death when every second counts.

Awareness and preparation save lives.

💙 Learn CPR.
❤️ Know where AEDs are located.

In 2021, Seth Cooper lost his father, Branden, to sudden cardiac arrest.

That loss changed the course of his life.

Over the past four years, Seth has committed himself to improving his health through running, better nutrition, and encouraging others to pursue healthier lifestyles. Now, he's taking on his biggest challenge yet: running his first marathon and turning every mile into an opportunity to save lives.

Seth has launched a fundraising campaign benefiting the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, with a goal of raising $5,000 before he runs the Charlotte Marathon in November 2026.

By sharing his story and supporting SCAF's mission, Seth is helping raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and the importance of education, prevention, CPR training, and AED access.

We are incredibly grateful for Seth's dedication and honored that he has chosen to support our work in memory of his father.

Join us in cheering him on as he begins this inspiring journey.
