Regulating our nervous system is often about slowing down & experiencing stillness— which can be counterintuitive & scary to trauma survivors who've been conditioned to believe that slowing down or standing still will allow abusers, bullies, or predators to catch & hurt us.

Maybe the happy ending isn't finding the perfect person, job, or destination. Maybe it's learning to love the life you already have, noticing the beauty in ordinary moments, and finding joy in simple things. Peace begins when gratitude becomes stronger than the need for more.
