PCOS is officially getting a new name:
✨ Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)

This change reflects a major shift in how the medical community understands this condition. For years, the name “Polycystic O***y Syndrome” has been misleading:

• Many women with PCOS do NOT actually have ovarian cysts.

• Symptoms often extend far beyond reproductive health.

• The condition is deeply connected to metabolism, insulin resistance, inflammation, and hormone signaling throughout the body.

The updated name — PMOS — better represents the true complexity of the condition.

• “Polyendocrine” acknowledges that multiple hormone systems are

• “Metabolic” highlights the strong connection to insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction.

• “Ovarian” recognizes the reproductive and ovulatory component that can still affect many women.
