Raise your hand if your provider has mentioned anything about environment + birth physiology??
šŸ¦— šŸ¦—šŸ¦—
…yep, that’s kinda what I thought.

When most people think about birth preparation, they think about what they’ll do during labor.

But one of the most important questions might be:

What kind of environment am I creating?

The environment around you influences the hormones inside you.

And those hormones play a huge role in how labor unfolds.

This is one of those birth conversations I wish we were having more often. šŸ¤

I spend a lot of time in client visits talking about the importance of hormones!

In a world that keeps pushing us to post more, advertise more….the thing that means the world to me AND has the biggest impact is kind words, and loving my services enough to recommend them to the people you know and love.

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart for these reviews! It’s my greater honor to know and serve you all!šŸ«¶šŸ¼āœØšŸ¤

Ok maybe you are sensing a pattern lately. But I want you to know just how important it is to take the time choosing the right provider. Interviewing and asking questions.

Do you feel heard?

Do you feel rushed?

Do they welcome questions?

Do they explain options?

Do they make space for your preferences?

The goal isn’t finding the ā€œperfectā€ provider.

It’s finding someone whose approach aligns with your values and helps you feel informed, respected, and supported.

Also remember there are a variety of different providers who will support different needs and birth philosophies like home birth midwives, hospital based midwives and ob/gyns. It can be important to know the difference.

Comment GUIDE and I’ll send you my favorite provider interview questions. 🌿

One thing I’ve noticed after supporting births:

The ā€œbestā€ provider for you, may not be the same one your best friend or sister in law chose. Or even the one with the most reviews.

It’s the one who makes you feel heard, informed, and supported.

When you’re interviewing a provider, don’t just pay attention to their answers.

Pay attention to how they make you feel.

Do your questions feel welcomed?

Do you feel rushed? (Suuuuuper important)

Do they make space for your preferences?

Do you leave feeling more informed than when you arrived?

Those things matter.

A lot.

If you’re currently choosing a provider, I’ve put together my favorite 20 provider interview questions to help you navigate those conversations.

Comment PROVIDER and I’ll send it your way. (It’s me an actual human, not a fancy robot so I will get it so you as soon as I can!)

Today at a birth, I was reminded of something I wish more women knew:

Your provider matters more than your fancy stroller, car seat or cute baby things.

The family I was supporting had a provider who knew their birth preferences, respected their decisions, answered their questions, and encouraged them to birth in the way that felt best for them.

And the difference was palpable.

Not because birth went perfectly.

Not because everything went according to plan.

But because they felt supported.

Heard.

Trusted.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: two providers can work in the same hospital and offer completely different birth experiences.

So yes, research the stroller.

But spend some time researching the person who will be helping guide one of the biggest days of your life, too. šŸ¤

Ok, stick with me here for a moment…
Something I’ve noticed after supporting births:

Women often think they need to learn how to labor.

But most of the time, what they’re actually learning is how to get out of their body’s way.

Birth hormones work best when we feel:

-Safe
-Supported
-Private
-Unhurried
-Undistrubed

Which is why the environment around a laboring mother matters so much. And understanding the hormones to help support leaning into what your body is doing.

The body is wise.

Sometimes the work is creating the conditions that allow that wisdom to emerge.

I talk about these types of things with all my clients, but if you aren’t ready to pull the trigger on a birth doula yet(we should still chat) I also created an AMAZING Pocket Doula guide to help you feel prepared.

Hold my tissues 😭😭
There is something so incredibly special about walking alongside families more than once. šŸ¤ To be invited back into such a sacred season again , to support, encourage, advocate, and witness your family grow , is a gift I never take lightly.

One thing I hear often is, ā€œDo I really need a doula again if this isn’t my first baby?ā€ And truthfully, every birth is different. Even experienced parents deserve support, space to process fears, help navigating decisions, hands to squeeze through contractions, and someone grounded beside them when things feel overwhelming.

Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, you deserve to feel heard, prepared, and deeply supported.

If you’re looking for compassionate birth support in the Duluth area, I’d love to connect with you. 🌿

And if you are a past client, do you mind leaving a google and facebook review? It’s a huge help for my small business. šŸ™šŸ»

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!
The ones who have loved and lost.
The ones who long.
The ones who have gone to the stars to find their babies.
The ones who have bled and wept and roared and leaked.
The ones who wonder if they are doing right.
The ones who wonder if it’s ever enough.
The ones who wake in the night to nurse or pray or out of worry or heartache.
The ones who know each season is tiring and fleeting and challenging and beautiful and are caught between holding on tightly and having faith to let go a little.
To the ones with empty nests.
To the ones who nurture like a mother does.
To the aunts and grandmas and wise women.
To the moms delivering coffee and making soup even when they feel like they have nothing left to give of themselves but showing up for their sisters, their friends, their community.

May you all find moments of rest and joy and gratitude.
May we continue to mother one another and show up. (Tired and real).

This role as a mother is my greatest and hardest work.
It’s also the greatest honor to walk alongside women as they enter this role of motherhood for the first and fourth time.

A special thank you to all of my clients who have allowed me to be a part or their motherhood journey.

Thinking of booking a free consultation, but mot sure what to expect? I would be delighted to chat with you!

This isn’t a test, an interview, or a pressure-filled meeting.

It’s a conversation. A space to slow down and feel seen in your pregnancy journey.

Here’s a little of what you can expect:

✨ An extended free consultation by phone or in person
✨ Time to share your hopes, desires, questions, and even fears surrounding birth
✨ Space to talk about your journey, your experiences, and what matters most to you
✨ A chance for me to meet your partner and family and learn more about your support system
✨ Deep listening, encouragement, and honest conversation from me
✨ Information about my experience, approach, availability, and backup support
✨ A gentle look into what doula care can truly feel like when rooted in connection and trust

Most importantly?I want you to leave feeling more informed, more supported, and more at ease than when you arrived.

I still have some openings late summer and fall!

One of my favorite parts of prenatal visits is watching partners step into their role.

Not as spectators.
Not as someone nervously standing in the corner.

But as someone who knows how to support, advocate, and walk through labor together.

Partners are your safe space. Yes, you hire a Doula to do a lot of the work. But sometimes our best place is moving out of the way for YOUR *PERSON* to be all you need.

So it’s one of the best parts to help equip them with the tools and knowledge too!

(And these usually end up being some of my favorite photos to snap, too, when partners are working together!
