Some stories of remembrance are woven through history. Others live quietly in our own families. In this heartfelt guest reflection, Cindy Schmidt - Wild New Way - shares memories of her father’s military service, the questions left unasked, and the way understanding deepens over time. A thoughtful Memorial Day read about love, legacy, and the stories we carry forward.

“The quality of your mind determines the quality of your life.” - Sam Harris

Many people focus so much on changing external circumstances that they rarely stop to notice the condition of their inner world.

At the same time, the way we think, react, interpret experiences, and relate to ourselves deeply shapes how life feels emotionally and psychologically.

When the mind is constantly overwhelmed by fear, pressure, resentment, distraction, or unconscious patterns, even outward success can feel emotionally empty.

From a Jungian perspective, self-awareness matters because it helps people begin recognizing the patterns and inner dynamics quietly shaping their lives beneath the surface.

A more grounded and meaningful life often begins with becoming more conscious of what is happening within you.

Sometimes the hardest part of change is not knowing whether you’re truly ready.

You may feel something shifting internally. You may sense that a different direction is calling you, yet still find yourself waiting for more certainty, more confidence, or a clearer sign before you move.

Our next Wild New Way Women’s Collective gathering with guest speaker Lorisha Ionno is a space for women who are navigating transition, inner change, or the feeling that something new is trying to emerge in their lives.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to recognize the “green lights” already present within you and how to begin moving forward even before everything feels perfectly figured out.

This conversation is grounded, honest, and supportive. You do not need to have everything together to join us.

Overachievement is not always driven by ambition alone.

Sometimes it is driven by the fear of what might surface if life became quiet for too long.

Many people stay constantly busy because slowing down brings them face to face with emotions, uncertainty, exhaustion, or deeper questions they have spent years avoiding.

From the outside, this pattern is often rewarded. A person may appear successful, dependable, productive, and highly capable while quietly feeling disconnected from themselves underneath the surface.

From a Jungian perspective, this can be connected to the shadow, the parts of ourselves we avoid, suppress, or do not fully want to face.

The problem is not hard work or achievement.

The deeper problem begins when constant doing becomes the main way we avoid being fully present with ourselves.

When you begin turning toward that discomfort with curiosity instead of avoidance, a more grounded and balanced way of living becomes possible.

If this resonates with where you are right now, message me “BALANCE” or book a free clarity session.

There are moments when something in your life begins to shift, but it doesn’t always come with clarity.

It can feel like a quiet signal, a subtle pull in a certain direction, even if you can’t fully explain it yet. It’s easy to wait in those moments, hoping for more certainty before taking a step forward.

As part of the Wild New Way Women’s Collective, I’m hosting a special gathering on May 27 where we’ll be joined by a guest speaker.

This space is for women who are navigating that in-between place and are wanting to slow down and listen more closely to what is already there.

I’ll be joined by Lorisha Ionno, who will share the story behind The Durango Collective through the lens of what she calls “green lights” , those intuitive signals that often show up before everything makes sense.

This gathering follows the same intention as our collective spaces: a grounded, welcoming environment where you can reflect, listen, and connect in a way that feels real and supportive.

📍 The Durango Collective, Durango, CO.
🗓 May 27, 2026.
🕣 Doors open at 8:30 AM.
🕘 Session begins at 9:00 AM til 10:00 AM MST.
You’re welcome to stay after to connect or continue the conversation.

This gathering is free to attend, and I’d love for you to join me.

Sometimes it’s not about trying harder.

You might be putting in the effort, thinking things through, and still noticing the same reactions or situations coming up again.

That usually means there’s something underneath that hasn’t been fully understood yet.

This month, we’re exploring The Golden Shadow Method, which offers a simple and grounded way to look at what might be driving those patterns.

It’s not about fixing yourself. It’s about understanding what’s already there and learning how to work with it.

You don’t need to read the whole book or prepare anything ahead of time. You’re welcome to come, listen, and take what feels relevant.

How often do we wear selflessness like a badge of honor… while quietly running ourselves empty?

In the latest Shadow Shorts with Cindy, The Selfless One explores the familiar pattern of always being the helper, the caretaker, the one who says yes — and what it can cost us over time.

A thoughtful reflection on boundaries, old stories we carry, and the quiet work of learning to care for ourselves, too.

Sometimes work becomes more than work.

It becomes the place where people hide from uncertainty, emotional discomfort, loneliness, or the deeper questions they do not yet know how to face.

Staying busy can create structure, purpose, and even a sense of worth. Over time, however, it can also become a way of avoiding stillness because stillness often brings people back into contact with themselves.

From a Jungian perspective, this is often connected to the persona, the identity we build around who we believe we need to be in order to succeed, belong, or feel valued.

The problem is not ambition or responsibility.

The problem begins when your entire sense of value becomes tied to performance, productivity, or constantly holding everything together.

Eventually, even meaningful work can start to feel emotionally flat when there is no space left for reflection, inner life, rest, or authenticity.

Sometimes the exhaustion people feel is not only physical.

Sometimes it comes from living too far away from themselves for too long.

If this resonates with where you are right now, message me “BALANCE” or book a free clarity session.

There’s a lot of pressure these days to show up prepared, have something to say, or feel like you need to contribute in a certain way.

This space is not like that.

You don’t need to finish the book. You don’t need to share anything personal. You don’t even need to speak if you don’t want to.

This month, we’re exploring The Golden Shadow Method in a way that connects to real-life experiences, how we react, what we notice in others, and what we might be overlooking in ourselves.

You’re welcome to come, listen, and take what feels relevant.
