Contamination of water resources by micropollutants is a global health and environmental problem, with greatest risk to infants and unborn children who are most vulnerable to the toxic loads of these chemical compounds. ffect at extremely low concentrations. CycloPure was formed to commercialize novel adsorption technologies pioneered in the lab of Will Dichtel at Cornell University. Letsinger Professor of Chemistry
at Northwestern University, and heads the Dichtel Research Group in the University’s Department of Chemistry. Using these technologies, CycloPure is developing a new class of highly adsorbent and sustainable materials for rapid removal of micropollutants from water. The company’s water treatment technology can be incorporated into a variety of filtration products for domestic, industrial, hospital and municipal applications, including purification and conditioning. CycloPure is also developing the technology for use in functionalized fabrics to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other contaminants from air.

How fun are origin stories, right? Learning the backstory of a hero or superpower? In the case of our Water Test Kit, it began with a Phase 1 SBIR filing in 2017. (The superpower is the ability to look at a water sample and detect part per trillion levels of PFAS … 55 to be exact.) National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) believed in the vision for an accurate, affordable, and convenient PFAS test procedure for use at home and in the field. Fast forward, today our PFAS Water Test Kit has tested close to 50,000 water samples, and is being used by the federal and state agencies, environmental groups, and households to providing valuable information PFAS contamination levels. Data that is used to install treatment systems and protect health. Celebrating our 10th year with NIEHS!
