This undyed wool sauna hat has a wisp of dry grass inside, and I left it there on purpose.

A customer in Wimberley, Texas recently asked whether my wool is sprayed with any chemicals. He’d been told to look for organic, since conventional wool often is. A fair question.

The wool comes raw and undyed from small family farms in the Alps, places that work slowly, with care for the animal and the fiber. I felt it by hand, with water and time, until the fibers lock into felt. Nothing else. No dyes, no treatments, no superwash.

The grass is simply what remains when so little is done. A trace of the meadow it came from. I could pick it out. I’d rather it stay. A quiet sign of a light hand, and of wool still close to the sheep.

It belongs to the ritual: the steam sauna or the infrared, the deep of winter or a summer reset.

I leave it.

My hands touched the non-toxic wool until it was ready. Water washed only. The natural lanolin stays soft for your skin.

The grass stayed. Nothing else came in.

Just undyed Alpine wool. No chemical dyes activating under heat. No synthetics breaking down in moisture or temperature. It shields your hair while the lanolin conditions.

I sculpted it unisex. Made it deep for long hair and big heads. With a loop or without. Your choice.
