My Big WHY
Hi, I'm Dr. James Ide and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, I live here in Linen and practice in Fenton. I want to introduce you to my Dad and tell you a story about why I went into the healthcare profession. If anyone knows how hard it is to live with debilitating pain, or live with someone in debilitating pain... it's me.
Back in the late 70's through the 80’s I was just a happy kid, this is me on the left and my brother on the right and my dear old dad in the middle. My brother and I spent our days just running around with big ole’ smiles on our faces, as you can see here but my dad, well... that was around the time his smile started to fade.
He had just started on the road to a prescription pain pill addiction due to his chronic back pain. He went from being a loving, caring, happy guy who used to pick me and my brother up, lift us up so high and just shower us with love, hugs and kisses... to a man who was angry, bitter and scowled at the world.
He didn't realize it was happening at the time and we were just kids so we didn't see it. Dad was just hard on us as we grew older, always yelling and putting us to work. Though my dad had a chiropractor he would just do general adjustments, at that time, his chiropractor didn't have the tools or knowledge to actually correct my dad’s spine. His medical doctor just kept giving him pills... no one was really there to help Dad deal with his pain, just mask it. As it worsened, his need for his pain pills grew... the longer he took them the more he needed, to mask the pain, he stopped eating with them so they would work better but he took them throughout the day so... he hardly ate. He got worse and over a short time, withered away and passed on.
It was one of the hardest things that my family and I had ever dealt with. In ways, I don't think we ever really recovered. I grew older and, while in college, became a full time roofing contractor, where I found out what it was like to have excruciating back pain. That was until I started getting adjusted. I was finishing my Associates Degree in business management at our local community college and trying to decide what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I prayed about it and out of the blue my mom and my chiropractor both told me that I should become a chiropractor… on the same day... the rest is history.
Once in Chiropractic school, two of my brothers and my Mom passed on from chronic diseases, diseases that were a result of lifestyle choices. This made me see how desperately I needed to learn everything I could about health and wellness so I could teach other people and they wouldn't have to go through what my family had. That experience turned me on to a world of health and healing from a more effective, natural perspective. That was when I learned that someone could have saved my Mom and brothers and even Dad, if only they would have just had the courage and the knowledge to intervene and show them what they were doing to themselves.
Today, I have grown to be very successful at helping people avoid the road Mom and Dad went down and am continuously teaching my patients how to live a healthier lifestyle. I love my life! I only wish I could have made it here sooner. I wish Mom and Dad could see me now, they would be so proud! Maybe I could've been able to help my dad, my mom, my brothers. That is the most awful feeling, not knowing what might have been. If only I could go back. I have learned so much and come so far and I know that there are millions of family’s out there just like us. People who don’t have someone to teach them how the quick fixes in life, will eventually lead to their demise.
The fact is that I can’t go back and save them and Mom and Dad will never see me, the only college graduate in the entire family, as a doctor now, helping people, because of them. This is heart breaking as I am sure you know. I am sure you can feel it through my words. That is the beauty of being human, we can feel deep empathy and understanding for one another, even when we have never even met. I feel that deep empathy every single day for you and your family because I know you are suffering NOW and IT WILL GET WORSE just like it did for my dad. Those scars never heal. I know that this happened to me for a reason and that reason is YOU. If you are suffering, I may be able to help save your family by preventing things from getting much worse and believe me, they can. I am reaching out my hand and would like the opportunity to help you, your spouse, your Mom, Dad or kids… help you or them, avoid being a statistic. Avoid being a statistic of the chronic diseases that plague our country and of the prescription pain epidemic that we are now facing today. Our team has helped thousands of people recover from disc injuries, back pain, sciatic pain, neck pain, headaches and much, much more. Our multi-faceted approach is different than any other chiropractic or doctor’s office; it focuses on correcting the core cause of your symptoms, based on valid diagnostic testing. We never guess when it comes to our patient’s health. We help people function better and that results in pain free days which turn into vibrant, happy, fun filled days. We give people more than pain relief, we give people their lives back! We give people their Dads back, their Moms back, their Grandpa or Grandma back, their Husbands or Wives back!. Life is to dang short to waste it away sitting in a chair or in bed or angry at the world because you’re in pain. Hey Listen, I want to help you start living again and not end up a statistic of the opioid epidemic.
I’m here to tell you, there are other, safer options for you and your family. If you want help, we are here, call now 810-618-6380. My team works hard and is busy at times so if you reach the machine, be sure to leave a message, they will get back to you quickly.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for listening to my story. I look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely, Dr. James Ide
