Another stop on our Finnish sauna education 🇫🇮

Saunakylä is an entire village of traditional smoke saunas. They don't have chimneys, instead the stove burns for hours, filling the room with smoke, which is then vented out before anyone goes in. They take basically all day to heat properly, but the experience is unlike any sauna we've tried so far.

Definitely one we're glad we got to experience.

It's been less than a week since we got back from Finland, and we're definitely missing the variety. A sauna with a bar, a rooftop view, a 100-year-old public sauna, a cabin in the woods and everything in between.

We had the chance to experience a saunalautta or "sauna raft" in Finland. While Friday Fry won't be floating, this experience reminded us exactly what we're trying to create back home: a place to slow down, connect, and embrace the hot-cold cycle. 🔥❄️

Spotted this pop-up sauna on our honeymoon in New Zealand back in 2019. It was closed. We were bummed. Funny how things come full circle. We're building our own now. Wood fired, mobile, the whole thing. 🔥
