Depression in men rarely looks like what we expect.

It doesn't always look like sadness or withdrawal. In men, especially Black men, it often shows up as anger. Irritability. Aggression. Emotional shutdown. Pulling away from the people they love. Reaching for substances to take the edge off. Working themselves to exhaustion just to avoid feeling anything at all.

And because those signs don't fit the image of what "depression looks like", they get missed. By doctors. By loved ones. And often by the men themselves. 🌿

Here's what I need you to know.

Chronic stress does real physical damage. It dysregulates your nervous system. It spikes your cortisol. It raises your blood pressure. It disrupts your sleep, your hormones, your gut, and your immune function.

Because stress is not just a feeling. It is a physiological event β€” and when it becomes chronic it starts leaving a trail of damage that shows up in ways most men don't connect back to stress at all.

Here's what I see in practice:
