𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝘀:

💔 "This is who you are now."

I believed that lie.

For years.

I thought the exhaustion was permanent.

I thought the brain fog was permanent.

I thought the loss of joy was permanent.

I thought the version of me who loved people, loved life, and had energy after work was gone forever.

But something incredible has happened as I've continued my healing journey...

I've started coming back.

And it has taught me one of the most important lessons of my life:

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

It's not one supplement.

It's not one medication.

It's not one protocol.

It's not one doctor.

It's not one miracle.

Healing is the reconstruction of an entire human ecosystem.

For some people that means getting out of mold.

For some it means treating Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, or hidden infections.

For some it means repairing mitochondria.

For some it means calming a nervous system that has been trapped in survival mode for years.

For some it means hyperbaric oxygen, peptides, detoxification, sunlight, minerals, movement, sleep, and time.

For many...

It means learning how to feel safe again.

Because the body cannot heal when it believes it is still in danger.

And perhaps the most beautiful thing I've learned is this:

✨ The person you miss is still there.

The version of you that laughed easily.

The version of you that had dreams.

The version of you that wanted to travel.

The version of you that loved being around people.

The version of you that felt alive.

They are still there.

Sometimes they're simply buried beneath inflammation, exhaustion, grief, trauma, infections, toxins, and years of survival mode.

But buried is not gone.

I've watched patients come back online.

I've watched marriages heal.

I've watched people return to work.

I've watched people travel again.

I've watched people laugh again.

I've watched people find purpose again.

And for the first time in a long time...

I'm watching it happen to me.

So if you're reading this and you're exhausted...

If you've lost hope...

If you don't recognize yourself anymore...

Please hear me.

You are not broken.

You are not weak.

You are not crazy.

And your story is not over.

The body has an incredible capacity to heal when we remove enough obstacles and create the right environment for recovery.

The goal isn't just to survive.

The goal is to become yourself again.

❤️ If chronic illness has ever made you feel like you've lost yourself, tell me one thing you're looking forward to doing when you get your life back.

Let's build some hope in the comments.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆?

What if your biology simply became overwhelmed?

Over the last several years, I've heard hundreds of patients say some version of the same thing:

💔 "I don't feel like myself anymore."

💔 "It's like I've lost who I am."

💔 "It's like my soul left my body."

And honestly?

I've felt it too.

Not sadness.

Not depression.

Not burnout.

Something deeper.

The feeling that you're watching your own life from behind glass.

You still show up.

You still go through the motions.

You still do what needs to be done.

But the joy is gone.

The energy is gone.

The connection is gone.

The spark is gone.

As a physician, I've become fascinated by a question that most of medicine still isn't asking:

What happens when inflammation affects the brain?

What happens when the nervous system gets stuck in survival mode?

What happens when mitochondria stop producing energy efficiently?

What happens when the body spends years fighting mold, Lyme, Bartonella, Babesia, chronic stress, trauma, Long COVID, environmental toxins, or other invisible burdens?

Maybe the answer isn't that people are weak.

Maybe they're exhausted at a cellular level.

Maybe they're fighting battles nobody can see.

Maybe they aren't broken.

Maybe they're overwhelmed.

The beautiful thing I've witnessed over and over again is this:

When the biology improves...

People come back.

✨ They laugh again.

✨ They connect again.

✨ They dream again.

✨ They travel again.

✨ They become interested in life again.

✨ They become themselves again.

I've watched it happen in patients who were told there was no hope.

And for the first time in years...

I'm watching it happen in myself.

The greatest lie chronic illness tells us is that who we are has been lost forever.

I don't believe that's true.

I think the person is still there.

Waiting.

Beneath the inflammation.

Beneath the exhaustion.

Beneath the fear.

Beneath the survival mode.

Waiting for the body to remember how to heal.

I want you to know something:

You may be farther from yourself than you've ever been...

But you are not gone.

And the way back home may still be there.

𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱.

𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝘀.

Not just physically.

Emotionally.

Mentally.

Spiritually.

For years, I blamed my exhaustion on stress.

Running a clinic.

Building a healing center.

Treating some of the sickest patients imaginable.

Life.

But looking back, I realize there was something deeper happening.

I wasn't just tired.

I was disappearing.

I had enough energy to help everyone else.

I had no energy left to be myself.

No energy for friends.

No energy for community.

No energy for life outside of work.

Just enough gas in the tank to survive another day.

As I've continued my own healing journey, something unexpected has happened...

I'm coming back online.

My energy is returning.

My empathy is returning.

My desire to connect with people is returning.

And it's forcing me to ask questions that many people are afraid to ask.

Why are so many people struggling with crushing fatigue?

Why do so many say, "I don't feel like myself anymore"?

Why has anxiety, depression, loneliness, and disconnection exploded over the last several years?

Why does it feel like our society has become more divided, angry, and disconnected?

I don't pretend to have all the answers.

But I do know this:

A population that is exhausted, inflamed, isolated, and overwhelmed will not think, feel, or behave the same way as a population that is healthy.

What if some of what we're witnessing isn't simply psychological?

What if biology matters more than we realize?

What if the future of medicine isn't about managing symptoms...

But understanding why people stopped feeling like themselves in the first place?

That's what Part 2 of my COVID Chronicles is about.

Not politics.

Not fear.

Not blame.

The search for answers.

Because every day I meet people who tell me:

"I don't recognize myself anymore."

And every day I become more convinced that healing is possible.

I've seen it in my patients.

And for the first time in years...

I'm seeing it in myself.
