Reading a nutrition label shouldn't feel like a part-time job.

Here's the truth: you don't need to decode the whole thing. You need two numbers: protein and fiber....and neither one is the calorie count everyone's been trained to stare at.

Protein keeps you full and protects your muscle. Fiber feeds your gut and actually makes food more filling.

Together they tell you the one thing calories never will: is this food going to hold me over, or am I going to be hungry again in an hour?

That's your whole 10-second scan. Protein, fiber, done.

The audacity of diet advice from people who've never opened a nutrition textbook. 😮‍💨

Every single one of these "tips" is either flat-out wrong, unsustainable, or actively harmful...and yet they get repeated like gospel. So let me set the record straight as someone who actually does this for a living:

Carbs aren't the enemy. Your brain, your hormones, and your energy literally run on them. Cutting them all isn't "discipline," it's a recipe for burnout and binge cycles.

Severe calorie restriction doesn't "reset" anything. It slows your metabolism, wrecks your relationship with food, and the weight comes back (usually with friends). A Facebook admin is not your care team.

"Just eat real food" means nothing without context. Real food is great! But vague moralizing about food doesn't account for your life, your budget, your culture, or your actual body.

No tea has ever detoxed anything. That's what your liver and kidneys are for, and they work for free. The only thing that tea is shrinking is your wallet.

Real nutrition is nuanced, individualized, and honestly kind of boring compared to the viral stuff but it actually works and it doesn't make you miserable.

Save this for the next time someone in the comments tries to coach you.

Red flag alert ...

Whether you have PMOS, suspect you have PMOS, are experiencing hypothalamic amenorrhea, are in an aggressive weight-loss phase, or have another underlying issue, going months without a menstrual cycle deserves attention.

(And no, I’m not talking about when hormonal birth control intentionally suppresses bleeding.)

Your period isn’t just about fertility. It’s one of many signals that can provide information about what’s happening in your body.

If your cycle has disappeared, your body may be trying to tell you something.
