Why Reflexology?
Have you ever wondered what working on your feet could possibly have to do with the rest of your body?

Our feet contain many nerve endings that respond to touch and pressure. That information travels through the nervous system to the brain, help the body respond to what we're experiencing.

Think of it a little like the light switch on your wall. When you flip the switch, you aren't touching the ceiling light - you are sending a signal through the electrical wiring that allows the light to turn on. In a similar way, touch and pressure on our feet provide sensory information to the nervous system.

In reflexology, I work with specific areas of the fee,t hands or ears using a reflexology map as a guide. The pressure I use is gentle yet firm and can be adjusted based on the area being worked and how you're feeling.

As different areas are worked, you may notice that the sensations vary from one area to another. I encourage you to let me know what you're experiencing so I can adjust the pressure to your comfort level.

So why does relaxation matter?
When we're stressed - even from something as ordinary as running late, sitting in traffic, or having an argument - our body activates it fight-or-flight response. This is a normal and necessary response that helps us meet a challenge. These everyday stressors may seem small individually, but over time they can become cumulative, leaving us feeling continually "on" or activated.

But our bodies also need opportunities to shift out of that activated state and recover.

The relaxation response helps the body move back toward its normal state of balance and recovery, sometimes described as the "rest and digest" state.

This is one reason I believe making intentional time for self-care and restoration is so important. It gives our bodies an opportunity to pause, recover and move back toward balance.

Reflexology isn't simply about having your feet rubbed. It is an opportunity to pause and become more aware of how your body is responding to stress-where you may be holding tension and what you may be feeling physically, mentally and emotionally. That awareness can be the first step toward recognizing what your body needs to relax and recover. coming back toward balance and harmony.

Giving yourself permission to slow down, rest and recover is an important part of taking care of yourself.

How Do You Recover From A Hard Or Stressful Day?

Some days can seem more challenging than others can't they? Here are a few things I've found helpful when life feels a bit stressful or challenging.
Maybe one of them will be helpful for you, too.

Spending some time outdoors - take a short walk or simply sit in nature.

Moving your body - stretch, exercise, dance or do whatever movement feels good to you.

Taking some slow, focused breaths. Breathe in gently through your nose and out through your mouth, you can even make sounds such as sighing when you exhale.

Finding something to laugh about - watch a favorite show or video that makes you smile and giggle.

Setting healthy boundaries -sometimes self-care means saying "no".

Connecting with others- reach out to a friend or family member. You don't always have to navigate things alone.

Self-care doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's simply giving yourself a few minutes to pause, breathe and come back to yourself.

What's your favorite way of coming back to yourself after a stressful day?

It's hard not to notice the subtle signs that fall is slowly coming into our awareness.

The sun sets a little earlier, some of the leaves are already beginning to change color, and the school buses are out!

Almost everyone I talk to is asking the same question: WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO?

Like nature, life seems to be an endless series of transitions - one season flowing into another.

As I spend these last few months before turning 70, I find myself asking, "WHERE DID THE TIME GO? HOW DID I GET HERE?

This season of aging isn't quite so subtle - it's here and, in some ways, right in my face!

Aging invites us to take a closer look at what wellness means to us and how we care for ourselves. Our bodies change throughout the years, and they often become much better at giving us feedback when something needs our attention.

Moving our bodies, nourishing ourselves well, getting enough rest and sleep, and paying attention to our thoughts and emotions all become important pieces of the wellness puzzle.

So, as we move through these last few months of 2026, I'm curious:

What does wellness mean to you at this season of your life?

Our feet carry us through so much of life, yet they are often one of the parts of our body we pay the least attention to.

Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive practice that uses gentle yet firm pressure to specific areas of the hands, feet or ears that correspond with different areas of the body. It can be a wonderful way to encourage relaxation and shift from the stress response of "fight or flight" toward a more relaxed "rest and digest" state.

Reflexology can be a wonderful way to slow down, support relaxation, reconnect with yourself and simply take a moment to breath.
Sometimes self-care doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's simply taking an hour to be still and allow yourself to receive.

Curious about reflexology? I'd be happy to answer your questions or tell you more about a session.

Have you ever caught yourself mid-reaction and thought… wait, who is actually running the show right now?

That white-hot defensiveness. The sudden urge to disappear. The irrational fear that you're about to be abandoned or humiliated. The part of you that shuts down, or explodes, or people-pleases their way out of discomfort.

That's not your adult self. That's a young part who learned to protect themselves the only way they knew how — and that kid is still doing their best….bless them.

Reparenting isn't about fixing that part of you. It's about recognizing it. Pausing long enough to say: I see you, little one. You are safe. I’ve got you. I'm an adult now.

It's one of the most humble, radical, and loving things we can do for ourselves — and for the people we're in relationship with.

This work isn't linear and it isn't always graceful. But every moment of awareness is a moment of freedom. Every time you consciously become aware of and hold the wounded child before they take the wheel, you're rewriting the story. And rewiring your nervous system.

You are both the one who needed more love then — and the one who gets to give it now.

What's one situation in your life right now where you can recognize your wounded child showing up? And what would it look like for your adult self to gently take the reins instead?
