When leptin is low or not being received properly, the body stays in a subtle stress response cravings increase, mood drops, and the nervous system feels unsettled. Ayurveda would say this is depleted ojas.
Years of sugar spikes, restriction cycles, and overstimulation drain both ojas and leptin sensitivity. The body no longer trusts that nourishment is consistent. Instead of deep satisfaction, there’s restlessness even when enough food is present.
This is why aggressive fasting or harsh cleanses often backfire. They may look disciplined, but they further deplete ojas and confuse leptin’s message. True healing restores trust inside the body.
After more than 30 years practicing Ayurvedic medicine, I’ve learned that rebuilding ojas is the foundation of sustainable cleansing. When ojas is supported, leptin can do its job again. Hunger softens. The mind quiets. The body feels held.
