I am the only Woman General Surgeon in town, then only Trauma-Fellowship trained General Surgeon in town, AND the only private practice General Surgeon in town! I operate out of National Park Medical Center for all of my big surgeries. This past Friday evening, some of the women surgeons from the newly formed Hot Springs Women in Medicine group (Thank you, Dr. Renee Warford!) got together for a fantastic evening of fun, fellowship, and a screening of the documentary “1001 cuts”. This was a very well-done documentary that exposes the difficulties that specifically women surgeons encounter through the years of medical school, surgical training, and even as full-fledged surgeons in the workforce. I am so happy that we were able to include two 4th year Medical Students, pursuing Surgery, as well as a current urology Resident surgeon! We had great discussions afterward, and truly grew together that strength of the Sisterhood 💪🏼 Then we were blessed with a group class by Qigong instructor, Janine Davis. Would a wonderful way to end the evening with some calm and stress reduction tips. 🧘‍♀️ 🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏽

The ladies and gentlemen of our the Hot Springs and greater communities came together yesterday afternoon for an exceptional educational event! Hosted by Spa City Vascular and Wellness’s Sarah Reyna, APRN together with Eden Health RX’s Mandy Burton, APRN, we learned about how patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (aka EDS) entering the Perimenopausal and Postmenopausal spaces can help themselves get healthy! Dr. Thomas Lowder of Baptist Health/UAMS LR mentored the talks and shared his experiences in the EDS research world. It was truly a wonderful and helpful event! Great job, ladies!!!!
