Most people who search for health answers never take what they found back to a doctor.

64% of social media users, 42% of AI users, say they often skip the follow-up.

The evidence women need isn't missing. It's scattered across studies and headlines that don't translate into "here's what to ask at your next visit."

That's exactly the gap Selfority's courses are built to close: not new information, but the research that's already out there, connected into the specific questions to bring to your provider. If you've been searching and coming up with more questions than answers, this is worth a look.

Head to the website to check out the courses — link in comments.

Nearly a third of adults are turning to AI chatbots for health information at least monthly. The reasons match what a lot of women already know from experience: a 15-minute appointment doesn't leave room for the questions that actually matter, so you keep looking on your own.

Searching isn't the concerning part. What you do with the answer is.

More dropping soon on what happens after the search — and why most of it stops there.

I just started comeback attempt (I’ve lost count at this point) from another surgery. If you’ve followed along, you know what that means: I go full evangelist for the people who get me through it, none of whom have ever met me.

“I make suggestions, you make decisions” got said out loud by me, in an actual exam room, to an actual patient, because apparently doctor brain and cycling brain share custody.

has me doing glute zaps at every incline I meet, out loud, in public, to my kids’ visible horror.

‘s “make modifications, not excuses” is the only thing standing between me and doing something dumb three weeks post-op.

met me at a twenty-minute walk-run. Years later, somehow, that turned into an ultramarathon and the Tour du Mont Blanc. She has no idea.

brought up the power pose mid-flow once and nearly knocked me clean out of savasana with the might of it.

And said the line doing the actual work of this whole thing: you came here to get stronger, not smaller. I’ve built a career telling women exactly that. Took a woman in a headset over a bassline to make me believe it about myself. So, an ode to and to a handful of beautiful strangers who taught me more about talking to patients and myself than most of my actual training did. Full piece in my Still Becoming Substack, link in bio.

Caught mid-laugh, him right over my shoulder still going.

Humor is on this list, too. It shows up in what I read, what I watch, who I stick around, and definitely in how I write. Self-deprecating humor has always played a starring role there. When my kids land a sarcastic barb on me, the kind that’s funny and not mean, I have genuinely never been more proud. My laugh is a little odd and I’ve grown to love it with age. I use it as often as I can.

This might be a me thing. But I have a feeling it shows up on more people’s wellness lists than they’d expect. In fact, help spread the love with your best/corniest joke!

To the woman reading this in the carpool line, or on her lunch break, or wide awake at 2am because sleep doesn’t seem to want to happen tonight:

You are not just the version of you that shows up to a doctor’s appointment. Not just tired. Not just how you feel on the hard days.

You are the one who still shows up for her people while running on fumes. Who researches everything before she trusts it. Who is funny and furious and soft, sometimes in the same hour.

We built this for all of her. Not the edited version. The real one.

That is why we will never talk about just one thing. You were never just one thing either.

What would you add to the list? Medicine, advocacy, lifestyle, kindness, women supporting women, tell us what’s missing.

Before there was Selfority, there was a run. That's where Rachelle and Sarah first talked about what real support for women in midlife could look like and it was the basis for Selfority.

Mid-run, phone out, stopping just long enough for this.

Connection is one of the things that makes me feel most well. I need my solitude but I also need human connection to fuel me. I show up steadier in my own life when I’m not carrying it all solo. There’s a version of wellness that only shows up when someone else is there with you, and this is mine.

Wellness was never one thing or one way. This month has just been me sharing what makes me feel well, in whatever shape it happens to take.

Grateful this one has rkuramoto in it.

Nobody prepared you for the menopause transition. Not really.

Not the brain fog. Not the rage that comes out of nowhere. Not the fact that your doctor probably got about an hour of training on it in med school.

I'm an OB/GYN and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, and I've spent my career watching women feel alone in this normal biological transition, even though it will happen to every woman.

Join me for an Ask Me Anything with Red W**e & Blue Civics. We're talking about what menopause actually does to your work, your family, your body — and why it's okay to ask.

I wrote this piece because I knew it personally. I saw it clinically in patient after patient. And I worry about it for my daughter.

Hunger, for women, has never been just a physical state. It is a cognitive one. And we have been quiet about what it costs for far too long.

My essay is live in Aeon. Link in bio.

Wellness Month, and I want to talk about the arcade game none of us signed up for.

You know the one. Whack-a-mole. Six holes, one mallet, forty-five seconds of feeling like you're in control of something you're not.

That's the closest thing I've found to how diet culture actually works in a person's head. It doesn't show up as one big decision. It pops up through a hole you didn't know was there, wearing a costume that says "health," and by the time you notice, you've already swung.

I wrote a new piece for Still Becoming about this. Two new studies on wanting to weigh less and what it actually predicts. A twist I didn't expect about which women carry the most risk (hint: it's not who the marketing tells you). And a very unglamorous story about lacing up for a run this week, months out from shoulder surgery, expecting relief and getting something closer to a stranger looking back at me instead.

Wellness was never a number. This month especially, I wanted to write down what it actually is.

New essay, "The Mole Problem," in my Substack. Link in bio.
