UNFENCE THE FUTURE
The medicine bundle of our organization is carried in the hands of immigrants, first generation baddies, children of refugees, descendants of enslaved Africans, and grandchildren of Indian residential school survivors. Our hands are ancestral maps, their lines a roadmap and reminder that migration is inherently elemental, necessary, innate, political, and earthly. As fire, water, earth, and air teach us time and time again, there is no border, fence, or wall that can confine nature’s unbounded movement. We resist the myth that humans are separate from this universal cadence. We choose to move and grow in kinship with our bodies, neighbors, families, the land, and with humanity and justice as our sunbeam.
From Turtle Island to the Congo, from Iran to Sudan, from Palestine to Jamaica, the atrocities we face, through false borders, prisons, occupation, genocide, climate crisis, and state violence are a timely reminder that our interconnectedness and interdependence are our greatest tools in finding out way through this season of decaying..
Let’s keep organizing. Let’s keep defending our neighbors. Let’s keep creating rapid response networks. Let’s keep sharing food. Let’s keep melting ice. Let’s keep participating in BDS campaigns. Let’s keep getting resources to Gaza. Let’s keep protesting in the streets. Let’s keep sharing herbal medicine with our kin in Minnesota and beyond. We are the midwives of our future. We are each other’s liberators. We are unfencing the future brick by brick.
