Here is what is really going on.
During perimenopause, changing estrogen affects the hypothalamus, the part of your brain that regulates body temperature. This narrows your temperature comfort zone, so even a small shift can trigger a hot flash.
Stress is not the only cause, and hormone support may still be appropriate. But sleep, cortisol rhythm, blood sugar stability, and nervous system regulation matter too.
