Cancer changes more than the body.

It can change the rhythm of a family, the shape of an ordinary day, and the way tomorrow feels.

For me, great cancer care has always meant holding two responsibilities at once: treating the disease with medical seriousness and caring for the whole person living through it.

Whole-person cancer care connects physicians, communication, follow-up, quality of life, family needs, and the patient’s own priorities around one human being.

Egypt gave me my roots. Four decades of medicine gave me experience that I now want to bring home—working alongside Egypt’s skilled physicians and committed healthcare institutions.

My mission is to build upon Egypt’s existing strengths, strengthen international medical collaboration, and help advance connected, patient-centered cancer care in Egypt and beyond.

Because healthier people strengthen families. Stronger families strengthen communities. And stronger communities create a brighter Egypt.

A patient is a family. Not a file.

Alexandria taught me that lesson before medicine ever did.

When someone is sick, the diagnosis does not belong to one person alone. A family worries, hopes, asks questions, and carries the journey with them.

That understanding has stayed with me throughout my years in medicine.

Clinical excellence matters. Treatment matters. But the person in front of us must never disappear behind the diagnosis.

The future of healthcare begins with seeing the human being first.

As I prepare to return to Egypt, that is one value I carry with me.

Egypt’s healthcare opportunity is not a blank page.

Egypt already has many important strengths: talented physicians, medical expertise, dedicated healthcare professionals, and a growing commitment to quality and innovation.

The opportunity is connection.

Connecting strategy with standards.
Connecting talent with advanced training.
Connecting healthcare with innovation.
Connecting Egyptian capability with international expertise.

The question is no longer only:

“What does Egypt need?”

A more powerful question is:

“What becomes possible when we recognize and connect the strengths Egypt already has?”

I believe the strongest opportunities do not always begin by creating something new from the beginning.

They begin by recognizing what already exists — and bringing the right people, knowledge, and relationships together.

As an Egyptian-American physician, this vision is personal. Egypt gave me my beginning, and my international journey has shown me the power of collaboration across borders.

Egyptian medical talent is already global. I know that journey personally.

I was born in Egypt and built much of my medical career internationally. But I have never believed that gaining experience abroad means leaving Egypt behind.

The more important question is:

What can that experience bring back?

Knowledge.
Advanced training.
Relationships.
Global connections.

Egyptian physicians are already making meaningful contributions in healthcare systems around the world.

I do not see this as talent that has left.
I see it as a global Egyptian medical network with the potential to reconnect, collaborate, and create new opportunities.

As I prepare to return to Egypt this September, I look forward to exploring how stronger connections between physicians in Egypt and Egyptian physicians abroad can support:

What would make a family choose Egypt for the care of someone they love?

That is where my vision for Egypt as a destination for health and longevity begins.

The opportunity is to connect Egyptian medical expertise with international patient care and hospitality—so that choosing treatment, arriving, recovering, and returning home feel like one coordinated journey.

For patients and families, that means confidence, clarity, and trust throughout the experience.

For healthcare leaders, hospitals, and organizations, it creates an opportunity for collaboration: sharing expertise, building trusted referral relationships, and designing care experiences centered around patients and their families.

It may be what happens inside it.

Healthcare and medical tourism have the potential to become more than services. They can become an economic ecosystem — attracting international patients, global expertise, strategic partnerships, investment, and new opportunities for Egypt.

Egypt already has powerful assets: exceptional medical talent, sophisticated private-sector leadership, world-renowned hospitality, geographic advantage, and a global Egyptian community with relationships, expertise, and capital.

The opportunity is to connect those assets — and scale them.

The real question is:

How do we turn that potential into global trust — and global trust into economic opportunity for Egypt?

After decades in medicine and healthcare in the United States and internationally, I see an extraordinary opportunity for Egypt to become a global destination for healthcare, longevity, and medical tourism.

Egypt already has many of the ingredients: exceptional physicians and healthcare professionals, expanding medical infrastructure, a strategic geographic location, world-renowned hospitality, and a destination the world already knows.

But becoming a global healthcare destination requires more than excellent facilities.

It requires quality the world can trust, an exceptional patient experience, international collaboration, strategic investment, and a vision that connects healthcare, tourism, hospitality, and economic development.

I am coming back to Egypt not to tell Egypt what to do.
