THE TOP THREE HIDDEN REASONS YOUR FIBROMYALGIA SYMPTOMS AREN'T GETTING BETTER

This week’s episode is live now!

This summer, I'm revisiting some of the most important episodes from the Fibromyalgia Podcast® archives.

Today's episode came out of a question one of my students asked in our Certified Fibromyalgia Coach® training program:

❓ “What are the top three reasons people don't improve?”

You may be working incredibly hard to feel better.

You're trying treatments.
You're making changes.
You're doing the best you can with the information you have.

Yet you're still stuck wondering why you're not improving.

What gives?

💥 Sometimes the things keeping you stuck aren't the things you think.

In this episode, I share the top three hidden reasons I see most often — and how to tell if one of them applies to you.

Once you know what's getting in the way, you can start doing something about it. 💜

Starting the week with a beautiful message from Megan, a listener who shared how the Fibromyalgia Podcast® has helped her improve her fibromyalgia. 💜

“Thank you so much for this podcast. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about three years ago and had never before heard of this condition. Your podcast gave me hope that I could learn to manage my symptoms when the medical community was telling me there was little to nothing that could be done. In every episode there is something I learn or something I am prompted to think about from another perspective and I truly believe this is helping me get healthier. Thank you for being so candid in sharing your story and your lessons learned.”

Thanks so much Megan! I'm thrilled you've found the podcast helpful.

Have you ever wished you could just ask someone a question about fibromyalgia?

Not Google.

Not a random Facebook group.

A real person who actually understands fibromyalgia.

Who has been where you are and found ways to feel better.

That's why every ten episodes on the Fibromyalgia Podcast® I answer questions sent in by you, the listeners.

Over the years, people have asked questions like:

💜 How do I know if my fibromyalgia is actually improving?

💜 How do I help the people I love understand fibromyalgia?

💜 Can turmeric improve my pain?

💜 How do I find a good doctor?

💜 What should I do if I was just diagnosed?

💜 Where do I even start?

And if you're wondering about something right now...

There's a good chance someone else has already asked it.

That's why I've gathered all of my Ask the Coach episodes into one place.

Find answers to your fibromyalgia questions at:

And if you don't find the answer you're looking for?

Submit your question.

It might become a future episode. 💜⁣⁣⁣⁣

I jokingly told my husband the other day
that drinking a glass of water every time you get up to go to the bathroom…

is the secret to life. 😂

Because think about it:

You drink more water…
so you have to p*e more…
so you get up and move more…
so you drink more water…
so you have to p*e more… 😂

It's the world's simplest infinite hydration loop. 💦

And it gets you standing up and moving around more often.

(You're welcome.)

But seriously —

Kim's article this week is a good reminder that hydration doesn't have to be complicated.

It doesn't have to be a whole system.
Or a fancy bottle.
Or someone saying “drink more water.”

Sometimes it's just…

One glass of water at a time.

Over and over.

Hey friends — Our favorite fibro doctor, Dr. Ginevra Liptan, is fighting quite a health battle.

She had emergency brain surgery a little over a month ago and is currently fighting brain cancer. 😭

I was able to spend a few hours with her on Sunday and it was wonderful. We laughed. We cried. We plotted and planned....

I don't know about you all, but every time I talk about this, it feels like a family member has been diagnosed. It's heartbreaking for our community and for me personally. 💔

I've been working closely with her over the last month on ways I can help her leave her fibro legacy — and I'll share more as things become clearer.

In the meantime, you can get an update on everything straight from Dr. Ginevra on The Fibro Show's episode posted today.

Two ways you can help right now:

1) If you don't have a copy of The FibroManual, get one. Or a few! It's now available on Audible as an audiobook. Dr. Ginevra would love to sell another 50,000 books in her lifetime. Not knowing how long that is — we need to get shopping folks! Don't forget there's a "cliff notes" version at the back, so buy one for your doctors and point it out to them. I'll put a link in the comments to where you can shop online.

2) The family has started a GoFundMe campaign. I'll link to that in the comments as well.

Sending you all big love and gentle fibro hugs. 💜

In this week’s article, Kim Osborne talks about choosing just one simple hydration habit to focus on each day.

One simple habit.

But here’s the thing about small habits —

it’s hard to tell whether they’re actually making a difference when you’re in it.

Did an extra glass of water help?
Did adding electrolytes change anything?
Are the “good days” becoming a little more frequent?

Sometimes you can’t tell — unless you track it.

That's exactly why I like the Social Good Experiment by Buddytown.

This app gives you a simple way to track *how* you're doing over time —
along with *what* you’re doing —
so you can notice patterns you might otherwise miss.

Sometimes the small things are helping — you just can’t see it until you start tracking.

And if you prefer good old-fashioned pen and paper?
I’ve got a tool for that too. 💜

"Hydration may seem simple,
but simple doesn't mean insignificant."
— Kim Osborne, Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®

I love this from Kim’s latest article.

I think it’s true of most things in fibro life.

How many times do we dismiss something
because it felt too simple or small to matter?

Drink more water.
Stop before you’re exhausted.
Go to bed on time.
Calm your stress.

We hear these things so often they almost become background noise.

But with fibromyalgia,
the simple things aren't just nice-to-have.

They're the foundation.

Your body needs them.
Your brain needs them.
Your nervous system needs them.

And the truth is — fibromyalgia rarely gets better because of one giant breakthrough.

Like I always say, you can still get to 100% better
by doing 50 things that only help 2%
or 25 things that help only 4%.

There’s no one magic bullet that will fix all of fibromyalgia.

But staying hydrated?
That’s one of the boring little things that helps you get to 100%. 💜

Supporting Fibro Resilience Through Hydration
by Kim Osborne
Certified Fibromyalgia Coach®

Can we talk about hydration for a second?

I know, I know.

“Drink more water” is probably the least exciting health advice you've ever received. 😅

But here’s the thing —

with fibromyalgia, hydration is about more than just drinking water.

It can affect how your muscles recover.
How your nervous system functions.
How your body handles heat.
How clearly you can think.

And it turns out… drinking water sometimes isn’t enough on its own.

In her new article on The Fibro Compass℠, Kim breaks down why hydration affects so many parts of the fibro experience — from fatigue and brain fog to heat sensitivity, muscle recovery, and nervous system support.

And I love the humanity Kim brings to something we all know we should do… and yet still struggle with:

“If my fibro body could be ‘Fueled by Dunkin,’ I’d be a much happier person.” 😂

In this week’s article, Kim covers:

💧 Why even mild dehydration can make fatigue, pain, and brain fog feel worse

💧 What electrolytes actually do — and why they matter more than you might think

💧 How heat sensitivity and hydration are connected

💧 A few simple hydration strategies you can try

Kim also includes a free download with simple hydrating recipes that are gentle on fibro bodies.

With summer coming… this one is worth the read. 💜
